@Dumb Rock Eh, I’ve figured that Rarity is less scared of danger than ‘mess’ and for some reason wind doesn’t affect pony hair, or maybe that’s just a pegasus thing. She definitely finds mud more distasteful than anything else, and she braved mud just to make her sister feel better. So it’s not entirely out of the ordinary.
I think that would have undermined Fluttershy’s effort, it was her struggle after all. And I can’t imagine Rarity volunteering to get inside a tornado.
…I dunno. Nowadays, after Bats!, I actually started wondering if Rarity occasionally turns into a butterfly for a short while, as a side effect from that spell.
@requiem-dirge I still think it should have been Rarity who tipped the scales in the end, randomly showing up using Twilight’s cloudwalking spell. Excellent callback + more friendshipping than the telegraphed-since-the-first-frame ending that came instead.
“A sudden boost of .7 wingpower? That’s it Fluttershy, you did it!” “Weee did it, dahling!”
It also happened in Hurricane Fluttershy, to Rainbow Dash (not only did her team fail to reach the total wing power she wanted, not only did her team fail to overtake Fillydelphia’s 910, but they barely got to the 800+ they needed), and to Fluttershy (who barely reached half of the average Rainbow Dash had set for her team).
It was, however, a victory for both: for Rainbow and her team, they managed to pull together with 8 sick pegasi and 1 failure to complete their task; for Fluttershy, she managed to overcome her own inner demons, and improve tenfold.
@Background Pony #7D49
You saw Rarity giving out gems, as “tips,” and such throughout the episode. She likely compensated the hotel for the materials she used.
only thing missing from Rarity’s last minute line was the mini-bar sets… hell i would have laughed if she included the blinds on the back of one of the dresses.
@nocturned85
Why would he? Stealing from hotels is a Manehattan tradition. They just increase the price of the room to compensate for all the bedsheets and towels that the guests usually take.
Of course, Rarity sought out the most expensive hotel she could find for her friends, hence why the luxurious sheets (and soap) made such beautiful dresses.
@turningpoint
I also think she shouldn’t have won, heck it was ending nicely when she accepted the idea. then out of nowhere, she won… for making last minute dresses. surprised the hotel manager didn’t come asking for the crap back.
Besides, something like that happened in Sisterhooves Social (for the “it’s okay to lose as long as you enjoyed yourself” moral) or Fall Weather Friends (for the “your dishonest actions may be your own undoing” one)
I don’t think it was the right moment or character for that. Rarity totally deserved to win, she both created a very versatile fabric and came up with an entire line within a small amount of time.
@turningpoint
That opinion’s come around a couple of times.
It probably wouldn’t work in an overly optimistic show like this.
But I honestly think it would have been irrelevant either way. The episode wasn’t really about the competition, and Rarity placed her friends above the fashion show in the end anyhow.
“My hair!”

would be hilarious if she ran out at that point. she was all over the place and disorganized.

Rarity is Angus MacGyver.
Yeah, makes sense.
It’s not my argument, in any case.

To show kids that you don’t win everytime, or something.
Why exactly?
