Yes… But there 2 flaws in your statement…
Meghan McCarthy was the writer for “pinkie apple pie” and neither her or the animators of the show had any plans for any tall, scary, faceless, pale entities in the background. They didn’t even know what he was! So now this means that Slender Mane just appeared out of no where stalking the Apple Family. An Easter Egg that even the staff members weren’t aware of. It’s quite disturbing if you ask me. An unexplained cameo of Slender Mane is a bad sign too. He’s just… there… and seeing him in Equestria makes me think that no where is safe from him… o_o;
It’s just an homage. A visual nod to something outside of the show canon - not an actual placement of the character or its mythology.

The question still stands and remains unanswered… Is The Slender Mane really haunting the woods and forests of Equestria? He was right there for a split second. I think the animators are really starting to fuck with our heads. How.. or better yet… WHY would the Hub allow a tall pale faceless monster to be shown in MLP? Don’t they know what that thing is capable of doing!? It has the same abilities and traits as Slender Man, and God help Equestria if that tall motherfucker has any proxies with him. Or even “The Rake”… shiver I’m scared as hell guys… This a legitimate conspiracy and a mystery now in MLP. Shit’s about to get all “Gravity Falls” and “Marble Hornets” up in this bitch.
