Because English is a weird language. “Dusting” is removing dust, but “polishing” is applying polish. Items on ships are cargo, but items in cars are shipments. You drive on a parkway and park on a driveway. I could go on.
I know what’s meant by the word - Go get dust on a cloth or whatever, Removing it from furniture, floors, walls, Guitars, Etc. But the word “Dusting”? Why is it called that?
Why is it called “Dusting”? It sounds to me as if “Dusting” Implies letting dust settle.
