I don’t necessarily contend that they’re immortal. I was just saying the “immortality blues” tag wouldn’t make much sense if one immortal alicorn sat mourning another immortal alicorn, because clearly the reason one outlived the other wasn’t because of age.
 
Of course, it would seem the tag has changed to “mortality blues” (whatever THAT means) since I posted that, so who knows.

The thing is we don’t actually KNOW if Alicorns are immortal we have only ASSUMED it.
 
If we went by Se1 only sure, but as the series has gone on that has been brought into question with the whole before Celestia and Luna a group of Unicorns on there own moved the Sun and Moon, and the age spell being brought up in Se3.
 
So it could very well be that with Luna she was in suspended animation being trapped IN the Moon, and Celestia was using the age spell on herself until Luna returned ( as out all the things to return a 1000 years later Nightmare Moon was the only one she actually knew about ).
 
But I doubt the whole is/is not immortal thing will ever be brought up into the show.

And then Celestia pops out of the grave yelling “GOTCHA!”, and they all laugh.
