well i don’t know whether you are saying this because you believe it to be true, that you are a sort of experienced critic on shows and how they are formed and created; or if you are a troll just looking to make some sort of drama for the sake of amusement. Either way, i don’t think that debating will do anything of any real value because, in the end, you are seeing things that i just don’t think is bad at all.
 
Derpy is a character born in the background, loved and adored by fans, and is loved and adored by me as well. regardless of what this scene is meant to be, a lovely little “hey bronies” from the creators, or a cash grab as you call it. I still love it, and that’s what matters to me subjectively
 
but that’s okay if you don’t like how she is used here, if everyone had the same views, opinions, and values as everyone else, everything would be a lot more shallow and missing of very real depth and meaning. In the end, seeing from different ends is how we can truly see everything, and to grow from there.
 
So, go ahead and think what you think. I won’t stop you, it would be wrong of me to fight on such a needlessly silly topic. and i imagine derpy doesn’t want us fighting either.

How dare you animators put a fan-favorite minor gag character in the foreground of a scene for a few seconds! How fucking DARE you!
 
I know that the target demographic doesn’t care either way, and I know that most bronies love seeing Derpy. But still! How DARE you!!!

The paper bag scene did not have her in the way of actively talking ponies. It’s bad screen layout. The Derpy shout out would not have been diminished in the slightest by putting the fountain behind the active characters. It would be more subtle, and less in-your-face. This is pure pandering for the sake of pandering. When Derpy appeared in Rainbow Falls, that was kind of pandering, but it was relevant and thus acceptable. This here? It’s a cash grab that makes the show feel cheap.

No, this was Derpy doing what Derpy does best–out of nowhere random @#$% that doesn’t have anything to do with the plot or affect it in the slightest; it just adds to the general weirdness of the show. Kind of like her performance in “Luna Eclipsed” with her paper-bag costume.

well, i don’t know how many people see it that way. but i had absolutely no problem with her in the front and am just happy to see her and her chocolate fountain ^^

sigh Dear show creators, Derpy is a background pony. Yes, she’s a fan favorite, but she’s still a BACKGROUND PONY. When you put her in front of the active characters, you violate various rules of cinematography just so you can say, “HEY GUYS! WE PUT DERPY IN THE EPISODE! SEE? SEE? DON’T YOU LOVE US NOW?” You’re trying too hard!

Rainbow Dash stole the flag so quickly that the flag itself didn’t realize it until a few seconds later.
