It would have been nice if the ponies had different body styles, at LEAST in height. Fuck, Sailor moon at least had sailor jupiter taller than the others, couldn’t they have done that for Applejack?

I concur that the dancing segments were of high quality.
 
However, I am still convinced that the strangely proportioned bodies of the characters are incidental to the audience’s enjoyment of the visual spectacles on display in the film. Indeed, I would say that the dance numbers were well presented in spite of the odd character designs.

Well,in the cafeteria song they all danced around a lot.Up until then the character models hadn’t really been shown doing any major movement.Not that the models were off but that the full potential of using the animation with a taller body with long arms and legs hadn’t been reached till the song in which their dancing (and singing)which was all very fluid and smooth. It probably was the best animation in the movie and was pretty much enjoyed by everyone(unless you have a grudge against the whole movie or something)and it was a shame that more of the movie didn’t use the potential of their mastery over flash animation to express the characters better thought I thought they did applejack and pinkie well.

Well perhaps stagnate,the designs seem flawed but in movement(like during a song or action) their movement is pretty fluid and made me enjoy it.

I would contend that the physical appearance of the characters in MLP: FIM are aesthetically pleasing, whereas the physical appearance of the characters in EQG are not.
 

 
The human versions of the Mane 6 are not pleasant to look at, and so are at a tremendous disadvantage in terms of who wears an outfit better.
 
(I personally did not like the EQG outfits on top of that!)

Why do the ponies look better in human clothes than the human girls who they were designed for do?
