Yup. Most of the time when screencaps are used in shipping pics, it’s to use out of context scenes as evidence for a ship being “canon.”
I didn’t upvote nor downvote this picture. If the artist didn’t intend to use the scenes as “canon evidence,” then that’s fine. But if the artist is using the screencaps as “evidence” that the ship is canon, then I suggest they don’t wear their shipping goggles so tight.

Oh, so a lot probably see this as some shipper’s attempt at “canon evidence” or something to that effect because of the screencaps? I think I kind of get it now.
Still, a cute picture’s a cute picture.
Every episode discussion involving Simple Ways, from this site and many others, had some rabid shipper going on about how AJ’s a lesbian and how Rarijack is canon. I did ignore it for awhile, but it just kept creeping back into every single corner of discussion. So I figured, if people are going to force it in conversations about episodes or other ships, why filter it anyway? That way I can still see the Rarijack art I consider “good.” Y’know, instead of out of context screenshots from the show with the words “True Love” plastered all over it.

Maybe some of us are just tired of having this specific ship shoved down our throats by the fandom with it apparent “Canon” evidence.
You may be right about why this image has many downvotes. Canon and shipping cannot be combined, as I also believe. And I also hate when they take canon scenes and say that the scenes canonize what’s just fanon. I do love this pairing though.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I hate it when people forcefully interpret canon scenes in a ways that suits their fanon shippings.
For me shipping and canon can’t be combined.
