He doesn’t need to be open minded. It’s called differing tastes. Deal with it.
As in Fringe - at least prior to the last seasons - the Observers just observed, and the few times they interacted with the main characters, they gave one line cryptic statements (at the time), and then would disappear (via their advanced technology) without a trace. Thing changed a bit in S4-S5 but that’s too much to go into now.
I can’t make sense of this loony reply.
Because really the only “canon” persona she’s actually been given in the one focus ep she ever had she was a goofball utterly out of touch with reality or at least the modern world
You do realize that half that episode had Luna as rather dour and prone to depression, right? She’s never been as lighthearted as the comic made her.
I don’t say the comics suck because of goofball Luna. My only issue is that… Well… I can’t help but see a great difference between te “totally unadapted and unaware of the modern world” Luna from Luna Eclipsed and the “Pinkie Pie clone” Luna that Andy usually does. Maybe is that he tends to ma ke her a little bit of a fun obssesed girl that doesn’t takes responsibilities as she needs to, and more like Pinkie with a crown.
And yeah, I mostly talk about her little appearances oer the show like Canterlot Wedding or Crystal Empire, and I don’t want her to be an “angsty” charater, but a serious but usually in silly situations one.
You know I keep seeing you harping on this crap and I’m just sitting here thinking “what canon is this guy talking about?”
Because really the only “canon” persona she’s actually been given in the one focus ep she ever had she was a goofball utterly out of touch with reality or at least the modern world, which by the way is WHY the fanon of her as goofy started and took over. Honestly before that episode it was mostly a flood of deeply cliche angst and moping; AKA “Woona”. The silly!Luna fanon started because canon portrayed her as a goofball.
Really all I see here is allot of smokescreen for what amounts to “You guys suck, why don’t you use my headcanon serious Luna, stop making her goofy! WAAAAAHHHH! RUINED FOREVER!”
Normally, comics would use internal dialog here, but that’s one thing I’ve noticed in the MLP comics in general that they have nearly avoided the use of though bubbles save for aside comments and some of the stuff in the Big Mac arc. And it’s not just the Cook/Price books, so it might be some design aspect they went with.
As such, all of what Luna is doing here, in many other books, would have been internal dialog, but is spoken and consistent with the past. Is it a little hammy? Sure, but this is also the Cook/Price Luna which is on that side to begin with.
It just seems like some of the most forced and horribly written dialogue ever. I mean, it would be like Optimus Prime just openly stating:
“I love driving out on the open road. I especially love it more than that time I got killed.”
What makes it especially weird is that Luna is alone when she makes this statement. If Celestia were in the room, I could interpret it as Luna being bitter (which she really has no right to be). But here, she is all alone. So why even bring it up? Who makes observations about the night, only to bring up the time they were banished all casually, when they are all alone?
So, you Hate MLP:FiM ;)
Also, Luna’s whole ‘great to not be banished’ thing is probably a little jab at the fandom. It seems the comics can get away with things like this more than the show ever could, and they’re taking full advantage of it. On top of that, you got to keep in mind that Luna could probably sleep an entire year away and not realize it, since she and her sister are immortal. Compared to a mortal pony’s perception of time, it’s likely still a very recent event for her.
You know this is not all he’s gonna do.
And I’m fine with that.
>Expresses his dislike for an entire genre as legitimate hatred.
How open minded of you.
Very true.
I mentioned somewhere else that what I’ve mainly enjoyed in the comics so far are actually Luna’s shenanigans, but the ironic thing about that is that like you said, her personality is so much more like it is in fanon that it’s one of the primary things that have convinced me that it is impossible to consider the comics canon to the show’s general timeline.
Oh wait… nevermind, I forgot you were the one who hated Shining’s Arc, not the one who defended it.
Wow, and the one thing I actually like of Andy Price is the is THE one thing you hate.
I HATE crossovers.
