Well thats entirely your right to believe what you want. And it is also you’re right ro voice that opinion. And although that human nature I mentioned wants me to be angry, I’ll just wish you the best, and carry on excercising my own rights.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

This thread went into religion with the second post. I didn’t bring it up, but since you feel the need, I suppose we’ll do it.

Secondly, When I said that I didn’t want to drag ponies into religion, I meant that I wanted to keep sites dedicated to ponies free of that. But since you asked, I’ll acquiesce.

Thirdly, you said, “But the entire reason for jesus dying on the cross was to spare us the eternity in hell that we had coming.” That punishment you said we as humans all “have coming” to us is a reference to original sin; an oblique one, but you still brought it into the conversation. Original sin is one of the most horrible concepts Christianity has brought the world. I refuse to accept blame for someone else’s mistake, yet the entire religion is predicated on this notion. Being punished means I personally did something wrong. Doing something wrong, means I could have prevented it. There is no way I could have prevented anyone from eating forbidden fruit many, many, many, many, many generations before I was even born. Original sin is an unjust judgement, and I refuse to acknowledge it.

Fourthly, it was to Jofca that I was responding with the “thought crime” thing. I just lumped both responses together. I figured that since I had hit reply to both of you, and both your names were in my reply, you’d be able to suss that out for yourself.

@wrabbit
First off, YOU are the one who commented about religion, we just replied to you. And I haven’t mentioned ponies at all.

Second, who said anything about “thought crimes” and “original sin”? But if you wanna go there then alright. We are talking about sin, not crime. When people inadvertently or advertently think of committing a sin the I believe that is our human nature trying to come out, whether you act on that impulse depends on whether you can control your flesh (aka human nature, that inner asshole that we all have) rather than let it control you. A crime is something acted upon that is legally or socially unnacceptable.

And I have no idea what you mean by original sin.

@Jofca
I won’t get into a discussion about religion here, because I refuse to drag ponies into that, but I will say that I find the very ideas of “original sin” and thought crimes to be detestable. And thinking about a crime, and actually committing a crime are two very different things.

@redweasel
I don’t know if you believe in God, but,
do you think killing, hating anyone, pervert yourself, be unfaithful to your woman, stealing, lying and loving money is wrong?
Jofca

@wrabbit
It’s a sin because in both cases the person has evil desires in his/her heart, which proceeds evil acts and defile humans (Matthew 15:18-20).

Duck - "someone befriended them, saved them, coaxed them out of their shell, and showed them that sex is nothing to be afraid of. I’m kind of envious of that rape victim"

Fuzzbutt
sin is just something tyrants made up to trick peasants into hating themselves and fearing each other. don’t fall for it!

@wrabbit
The whole point of that is to say that we are all sinners. Yes, some christians like to think that we’re better than everyone but the truth us that by nature we are all sinners. But the entire reason for jesus dying on the cross was to spare us the eternity in hell that we had coming.
During that time period there were alot of stonings of people that the masses thought of as sinners (prostitutes, thieves, gamblers, etc…), but when Jesus said “let he who is without sin cast the first stone” even the people that were “religous” realized that they were all sinners just like the woman who was lying on the ground. And although Jesus himself was without sin, he chose to forgive her of ger sins and basically told her to try to lead a better life.

So no matter what some of the “religous” people tell you, you are valued by god just as much as they are.
