Wallet After Summer Sale -

Something that elaborates on Sombra’s guards would make for a really interesting story. What are the manes colored? Did they have a captain of the guard? Are there wandering rogues who would make for interesting antagonists? Side note: Confirmed crystal pegasus; any crystal unicorns? So much headcanon room in the Crystal Empire.

@Masem Not bat-like, but maybe part of the same sub-species as Sombra is. I can’t help but think that Sombra is not a “garden variety” unicorn, what with the fangs and the red, curved horn and all. That and, if his Mirrorverse counterpart is any indication, the fact that he’s apparently the size of Princess Celestia. (Mirror Sombra TOWERS over the Twilight and her friends.)

This is the original text which reply to Masem (conceived by me; written by Background Pony #56A4):

Judging from the positions, what you said is possible. Still, there’s the possibility that those are horns if we look at the outlines and shades (esp. the guard on the right).
Besides, what a Bicorn implies matches Sombra’s traits as well.
Finally, Celestia has E.U.P., Luna has bat ponies, Cadance has crystal ponies; so maybe Sombra could have his own race of guards too?

Well, if you know an eviler and more baddass way of relaxing in front of a chimney enjoying a good book, tell us.

@Masem
Being cozened instead of coerced to take part in the oppression of a society does not eliminate the individuals’ responsibility for his actions- see also “I was just following orders” does not excuse anyone for being accomplice or accessory to a war crime.

Those soldiers knew the deal they were getting, and some part of them was sadistic enough to just roll with it anyway, because “I got mine, screw everyone else.”

Of course, this itself is assuming those guys were actual soldiers of the Empire corrupted, and not from an invading force Sombra had mustered to conquer the Empire.

I still like to think of Sombra as being the Pony equivalent of Ganondorf, amalgamation of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess versions to be specific. Envious, angry, found dark power, became a king by conquest, and never lost his taste for violence, but tries to educate himself to learn how best to tap into his twisted magic.

And hey. Why not demean a weird ice cream monster and get some honest enjoyment out of it at the same time?

So in summary, blood knight battle mage who knows he has to kick back just a little bit.

Im honestly okay with that as the characterization was a little too shippy even for me. But that’s just my opinion.

I’d like to pretend that the ghost is just reading Sombra his favorite fantasy fiction series.

I mean, if the crystal ghost was reading torture-gorn or slave eugenics stuff to Sombra, he would have brought that up instead of just mentioning that “he loves reading out loud”.

think is is when her got the dark power, and he was basking in his ‘glory’ and what better than a rare supernatural storyteller as a status symbol?
