Why would big boss(or anyone for that matter) think to look in there for a bomb.
I think the tapes are meant to give the player backstory, not actually for Snake to use.

Personally, I’m more confused that finding the tape revealing there’s another bomb doesn’t change how the scene plays out. Big Boss still thinks there was only one bomb.
If you where beaten, tortured, and operated on to insert explosives in you I doubt you’d be able to say coherently where the bombs were.
