The thing I will never forgive Pinkie for, is Filli Vanilli.
The poor little filly will be scarred for her life now. :(
After Twilight released the elements of harmony back to their tree, the mane six were released from the elements and thus given the freedom to behave naturally.
Pinkie here is behaving in her totally natural uncontrollable self.
She had no filter, even though Twilight was trying to control her.
Pinkie Pie needs a counter weight to balance her craziness, or else she stops seeing things rationally, like a little kid who just wanted some books.
That, I can get behind. Six is usually too big a group for RP groups even, so it stretches the 22 minute format of the show quite a bit.
I know, but that episode was so good and Pinkie was well written that it made me wonder why other episodes don’t do her justice this season.
Heck Amy, who wrote Pinkie Pride, wrote Filli Vanilli. And we all remember how Pinkie acted like there.
I’m just hoping that come season 5, that they don’t shoehorn all the mane six into every episode and allow the characters time to breath and have their moments.
Let me start off by basically agreeing with you.
I’d also like to note, though, that I can live with it for now. I mean, most people say or do stuff at some point which makes their friends uncomfortable; nevermind random strangers.
Pinkie Pride was also part of this season, so it’s not like they completely forgot what her character is mostly about.
Then we get a hug and a filly happily walking away with two new treasures.
Fuck Pinkie this scene. Seriously.
Poor filly. hugs
Sorry, I mean focussed on the crazy and ignored the laughing.
You are completely right. They’ve taken Pinkie’s modus of “crazy, funny laughing pony”, and focussed on the crazy and ignored the random. She’s not the pony who makes everyone smile, she’s the pony who’s random at the expense of everything else, which more than once has meant that she’s actually quite mean.
You hit the problem on the head there. Crowbarring in all of the Mane Six at once means that some of them are going to get warped by the container in order to fit the shape of story.
It seems like Pinkie’s off kilter in the head this season. Sometimes she’s her old self, other times she’s extremely childish, and times like this she’s rather mean. {Actually, this scene was rather…a bit unnerving. Pinkie was switching between nice and angry so much, that I think she wasn’t doing it on purpose.}
Maybe the writers just don’t know what do with Pinkie, since nowadays they pretty much ‘have’ to put all the main six into episodes. And since they’re forcing her in, her character suffers.
Honestly, I think Rainbow Dash would have been a better choice for this role. She can get headstrong and be mean spirited and rude sometimes, as well as bossy. (not a lot of the time, but still) She’d also be more inclined to use Twilight’s status for stuff, instead of Pinkie…Which comes off as OOC.
Just look how sweet that widdle filly is. And Pinkie makes her cower/run away. Bad Pinkie! Very untrue to her dictum of “All I want to do is make ponies smile”. Now it’s “All I want to do is make Fluttershy cry and little fillies run away”.
They should have elaborated more into this scene… Instead of making Pinkie the bully here.
It’s a filly that wants some books, but doesn’t have anything decent to trade for them. Pinkie scaring her off is just mean.
The only way for me to accept it is that the kid was intending to rip Twilight off to get some books, which she can then use to trade for other things.
I believe that the reason that Pinkie is the one being antagonistic is because her characterization allows her to get away with it more than the others, with Rainbow being a close second.
Well as a prank, then yes. But this wasn’t a prank. {And the last time she scared kids for fun was at the expense of Luna.}
Jeez, just for some damn books though.
Not even as a prank?
