Even if that were the case (it’s open to interpretation), that wouldn’t make it not be weird for Spike. Point is that he has feelings for Rarity, and Twilight is more or less the only family he has, so Twilight and Rarity dating could be… Disconcerting,

Yes, I admit it would be harder to keep a secret, but even if they didn’t hide it, hell, even if he knew about Rarity’s feelings before Rarity had managed to tell Twilight, there’s a lot to work with. Not only might he feel like he’s been played for a fool, but he might try to keep Rarity and Twilight apart, and rationalize it as “I don’t trust her not to hurt Twilight the same way”. And since he looks after Twilight a lot, though not as much as he used to, he might even believe that it’s really about that.
 
And even setting that aside, he’s had this crush on her forever and now she’s basically dating his mom. That’s gotta be… Weird. To say the least.

That would be harder to pull off though, given how the two live in the same house/castle with the fact Spike has been with Twilight since as far back as he remembers. For with their relationship being like that of sister or mother, mattering whether you take Lauren’s words that Spike was raised by Celestia as canon, it would be even harder for a secret relationship to be pulled off between Twilight and Rarity.
 
That and I have the feeling Twilight would be very good or successful in hiding she is dating or has a special somepony. If she did manage it the reveal would hurt Spike even more given the relationship he and the young princess has, and the question could be of both mares why they would hide this from him.

This has got to be a joke, right? Nobody could possibly pass this of as good writing.  
But they gotta make sure no icky, gross, guys in the way of the beautiful, flawless and perfect lesbian love.

Just for fun, to really screw with Spike’s head, let’s have her dating Twilight rather than Pinkie. Rarity’s crushes tend to be either royal or famous, and generally seem fairly well-off. Twilight? She came into Rarity’s like as a personal student to Princess Celestia herself and just kept going up from there. And she’s always been there, not just for Rarity, but for everypony. Other than possibly gender, what would Rarity want that Twilight doesn’t have? (Of course, AJ or Dash teashing Rarity about being a gold digger before they know she and Twilight are a thing could make Rarity question her own motivations. And be a total drama queen about it.)

Yes, a fanfiction like that should be written… minis the lesbian bit because of the plot holes it causes. It would still be a story about Rarity dating Pinkie Pie and not telling Spike until he learns it from others first, counting hearing it from a certain party loving pink mare. More it could even involve a bit more of the above, mainly how Rarity doesn’t see the dragon in a romantic way.
 
Heck, lets be honest, if Pinkie Pie starting dating any of her friends she would probably throw a party.

And if Rarity didn’t tell Spike that she and Pinkie were dating in a timely manner, I’m fairly certain Pinkie would mention it. Not necessarily the best way for him to find out, but there’s no way he’d be out of the loop for more than a week, tops.
 
And I still maintain that Spike would take it badly. Not because she didn’t feel the same way, but because of how long it took for her to tell him that it wasn’t gonna happen. (Someone neeeds to write a fanfic along those lines. And it needs to be called “Stop Dragon My Heart Around” ;)

This is so not well considered, or thought out. The artist/author clearly doesn’t know what being a lesbian means, since the definition involves not having an attraction to guys which Rarity factually has had. She has crushed on both a prince and a trend setting, the latter the mare even having a shine dedicated to and she was willing to go through the effort of changing who she was just to get the stallion to notice her.
 
More, Rarity would not say it the way shown above. The mare would have be much more sensitive to Spikes feelings, talking to him sooner, and if she was dating Pinkie Pie she would have said something to the young dragon so that he wouldn’t go along believing there was chance of him getting together with the mare of his dreams. She would have told Spike she wasn’t interested in him romantically differently and the dragon wouldn’t have taken it the way shown by the artist/author.
 
This tumblr post is a mess, or at least poorly thought out, and can’t be taken seriously.

Rarity, you can’t be lesbian if you have shown attractions to the opposite gender. You have been attracted to stallions, so your at most bisexual.

I’ll be the guy who says this stereotypical statement that will have no real reward impact to both sides of the argument and any chance of coming to an agreement:

Also, Raripie? I never got that one. Seems like Pinkie would wind up driving Rarity absolutely insane, and not in the sexy way.
