No episode in the entire series has scored below a 7.
Heathens, all of ’em.
I’m probably really sentimental about S1 and S2 as well.
None of the episodes scored below 5/10 for me. The background music is always great, the voice acting is always fun, the animation is always great, and even the “worst” episodes still have fun little jokes/expressions. At worst, I’m left with a small smile.
Opinions, YMMV, etc.
Your are probably completely right!
Part of it is that some people felt the rest of the Mane 6 should have talked to Rainbow Dash about her swelled head, instead of using subterfuge to teach her a lesson. While I would’ve appreciated such a scene, it would have been out of character for Rainbow Dash to have heeded their warnings.
Which brings up the other major group of complainers: those who felt it was horribly, horribly out of character for RD to be so full of herself, despite over a seasons’ worth of episodes available that consistently painted her with a huge ego and a love of being praised. At this point in the fandom’s history, I suspect Dash was still the most popular of the Mane 6, though not to the degree she was when bronies were still mostly a 4chan phenomenon. A lot of her fans didn’t take well to seeing her ego portrayed so vividly and so negatively, especially since they tended to have something of an inflated ego themselves.
It took until Power Ponies for them to get that right. They kind of realized “oh shit, the characters practically are already superheroes. There needs to be some other context to them acting like it’s weird.”
The episode just seemed like an amusing parody of the superhero genre.
S&E is a more interesting character piece than pretty much any other episode
Prepare to feel almost all alone, then. Most bronies think “Spike can’t cook? Irredeemably horrible episode!” Personally, while I found that and a few other flaws annoying, there was more than enough stuff about SaYS that I loved in order to salvage the episode for me.
@anonymouspegasus
That’s partly due to the fact there’s been significantly less time to rate those episodes. Once time passes, passions cool, and people who’ve watched the episodes multiple times have a chance to rate them, the numbers will settle more.
@JP
As much happens in “Sweet and Elite” as in a typical slice-of-life episode, really. And as much as I love Derpy, her presence, absence, or actions in an episode don’t affect my rating for it because she doesn’t affect the story or the characters (except for “The Last Roundup”, obviously).
@Itsthinking
My impression at the time was that “Baby Cakes” wasn’t hated, just considered mediocre. “Dragon Quest” got its share of hate, but nowhere near the level that MMDW got.
@Joshua
Prepare to feel almost all alone, then. Most bronies seem to think “Breezies? Mane 6 Breezies? Irredeemably commerical episode!” Personally, it’s one of my favorite season 4 episodes.
Guy detests Spike being around her in any context.
Inspiration? Why?
Simple Ways was the only bad one imo.
Hey, after the negligence of Season 3 I’m happy that Rarity actually got her own episodes; then again, this season did give us “Imagination Manifestation”, which is the only Rarity episode I downright despise. Oh, and I also thought her “rainbow power” form in the finale was tacky and a literal eyesore.
didn’t have enough rarity for you?
it wasn’t as bad for me. not exactly up to the calibre of most episodes, but not horrible. then again, no episode of this show is for me, so…
quiet you
But yeah.
I think even some of the episodes that aren’t quite as… polished as some are still bronze medals in the grand scheme of things.
There’s always at least a few good scenes in every episode.
Breezie being great or not is questionable, but it certainly doesn’t belong to “worst episodes” tier.
That’s still dumb as fuck. Breezies was a great episode. Doesn’t deserve to be rated the worst at all.
it appears to be tied with it.
Yes. Which for some reason has a higher rating despite FiM having a higher general trend? Weird.
Oh, wait, Adventure Time, right?
@Itsthinking
AT?
Two things:
