He didn’t get Rainbow Powers, but now his fire breath has grown past adult level while still a child. Putting that into account, when he’s dragon-boy of the preteen size while humanized, he’d look in place in a Superhero group just like Beast Boy would.
@romantiCaveman
Speaking of Avengers, I should point out that even the writing team thought the exact same way in the Super Hero episode of MLP about Twilight.
In the realm of ‘superpowered teamwork’, Hasbro thinks at least similar as Sundown.
Remember? In the comic book universe, instead of keeping things imbalanced, they role-reversed Twilight. Their idea was that in that the comic book world, control of their powers would be based on their ability and will, not race or chosen gifts. They did not have any of their race powers beyond the absolute basics.
For example, in the comic book universe, not only was Twilight only an alicorn in appearence, she wasn’t the Element of Magic.
ex.
Twilight as Matter Horn: While Matter-horn’s powers are the closest to a experianced unicorn, Twilight was brought back to her potential she had as a child, before she was chosen as the Element of Magic. Ergo, most of her spells fizzled. However when she started really trying for the sake of her friends, she did manage to make a thin sheet of ice across the floor.
RD as Zapp: Rainbow Dash was no stanger to weather powers, but she wasn’t used to doing it with her mind and will alone. Since they already established in Return to Harmony and her Micro-Series that RD’s willpower is unnaturally high, her first tornado was WAAAY too big without initial practice.
Applejack: Kind of the same thing with RD and weather. AJ was no stranger to lassos, but using it with her mind was a new experiance.
Fluttershy: Enough repressed anger and emotions to fuel the hulk-gene, but obviously a lot of reluctance to do so being, well, Fluttershy
Pinkie probobly got it off easiest. As a Pie she can refute reality and make herself cartoonishly fast, and this just allowed her to do it without tiring herself out.
And Rarity…I think we can safely say from both that episode and the Manifestation episode, Rarity’s talent with alteration and conjuration magic is top tier. Sure, they were from different sources of magic, but Rarity’s never HAD any formal unicorn magic training has she? She’s completely self taught.
Exactly, they’re way too transparent about it.
When’s the last time they were treated like equals in fights or big plots outside the comics? A Canterlot Wedding?
I guess it doesn’t help Celestia has been trying to separate Twilight from her friends from teamwork as much as possible in the finale’s/premier’s, especially in Crystal Empire and Twilight’s Kingdom. It really doesn’t help trying to put a ‘team photo’ with the show’s version of Twilight.
(Thank god for what just happened in comic #19…)
@Background Pony #C3F9
Well to be fair, all of them only became elements of harmony because of RD’s Sonic Rainboom, and Celestia pretends she doesn’t even exist. (jeez…) Well, at least in respect to that, they gave RD a hyper form while all the others just got super forms…even though only Twilight had dialogue then (rolls eyes)
Oh hey, I can’t believe I completely forgot about Watchmen.
Or Watchmen with freaking Doctor Manhattan.
See also: the Teen Titans cartoon, Black Lagoon, etc. I mean, I occasionally fall into the same trap of wanting to stat out each character like they’re in a fighting game, but it’d be kinda silly to, say, disregard Raven or Revy when drawing their groups just because they’ve got more obvious physical power.
My sentiments exactly. The fact Sundown even put spike in the picture makes it even more offputing. Adding to the analogy it’s like drawing the Justice League and putting in Robin instead of Batman.
maybe thats why hes here. The episode was so twilight focused that the rest barely make somethig useful.
Also, does anyone else find it strange that Spike’s in this picture even though he didn’t actually get any sort of Rainbow Powers
“the reason in the show that the Mane Six got Rainbow Power was because of the six keys”
who ever said the contrary???
also, are you implying that they didnt get rainbow powers because of the rainbow powers? HOLY SHIT! coulour me Xzibit
also, what chaos said, the sooner you accept that the better dude :V
Yeah, but it’s best not to be transparent about it.
THE ENTIRE SHOW IS A CASH GRAB AND MARKETING PLOY!
Sorry my OCD won’t let me. Is like if I drew a Power Rangers group shot but decide to leave out the Red Ranger. Or if I drew an Avengers one and leave out Captain America.
do you even art?
besides, opinion isnt fact :V
Sundown stopped being interesting when it was revealed all he would ever draw is porn and Applejack looking like a fucking chemical beaker with the occasional groupshot sans Twilight.
It’s really sad how much his art has degenerated, even the faces on this pic look really goofy. A real shame; he had some really cool stuff back then.
“his level of Twi-hate”
pics or didnt happen???
His work always seems to hint at some kind of darker world history.
@G.S.
and yes, the way he’s built up the rest of the squad is perfect to combat that imbalance.
Yeeeeah…that’s gettting a little dark for my tastes. I mean, I LOVE the look of the scars on Rarity’s back (>>435089), but I thought she just ran into some creatures who weren’t all that eager to give up their gems to her…
I like Sundown because badass earth pony magic. Holy crap. (The occasional Rarijack pics he does aren’t bad either!)
Oh hey, the “weakest” character just fuckin’ nailed the “strongest” character. I guess there’s not a big power difference between them after all! :D
That would pretty much cement in the Sundownverse that Twilight is absolutely not superior to her friends. I would be all for it. also AJ is bestpone
Though I got tired of Sunny when I learned his headcannon included FS attempting suicide and Rarity being a concentration camp survivor. That’s just…. :v
Though I’m wondering why Twilight is missing.
Everyone has their likes and dislikes, but he still found her an interesting enough character to draw and design for her at least a dozen times or more before she was an alicorn.
Even before the alicorn thing, Twilight was raised with no hardships and instead of representing a morality, she is gifted with excess magic….But its offset by her lack of life experience, lack of common sense, moments of humility and her wit, which is why I’m still a huge fan of S1-S3 Twilight :) Even IDW alicorn Twilight is growing on me since she’s a lot more humble and open-minded about things enough to question them. >>579708
