I can see that, thanks. Sounds like I may have to go deep into studying Biblical texts, to see if there’s something missing.
(Gee, What’s in the Dead Sea Scrolls?)
Because fanatical ideologues change English words (eg. “rape”) to include nonsensical definitions in order to make what they are irrationally upset about seem like a legitimate issue.
Why is it that when I looked up “Definition Blasphemy” the first few things I looked up didn’t say what I read earlier on another page? That other page said “Blasphemy means bodily harm.”
Sinfest has not been good since the first year of its existence. After that all the blasphemy, racism, misogyny, and everything else that made it good disappeared.
Thanks for telling me.
Oh, and despite its name, it was usually PG-rated, and didn’t go over the PG-13 line in the years that I was reading it.
Webcomic; terrific art, used to be one of the funniest strips around, now tends to be extremely preachy in the service of radical feminism.
>sinfest
Oh god. Should I even ask what that is?
Hey, I remember when its forums were attended by reasonable people who were there for the sarcastic vein Sinfest once had.
I guess they are gone for good now, and only SJWs remained.
Shit.
But I don’t get it: Ishida surely lost a lot of readers. That surely wasn’t good for his business.
… Short-sighted judgments that are without the whole story?
“I like to work on cars.”
“Oh, so you’re a high-tech car mechanic, huh? Care to tell me the latest information on the Ford Pickup Trucks? When will they get 35 MPG?”
“… Uh, No. I’m not the president of Ford; I just do this part-time.”
I still read it just because I refuse to let it beat me. I read Dominic Deegan to the end, I’m not letting something that at least has a decent art style beat me.
Though the only thing more baffling than the comic are the forums. Oh my fucking god.
Sunday’s comic with the assassin-bot disguised as a regular store-bought fembot. I see a lonely guy trying to replace his dead/divorced/whatever wife based on the happy family pictures he has showcased by a few meaningful panels. I glance at the forums; “ewww he’s a fucking pedo, he totally dressed that robot up to look like a little underage schoolgirl and shit” and I’m just like fucking what? Pigtails automatically implies pedophilia now?!?
He did a comic version of “Myth Adventures”, a comic for “Dragon” (one of the two D&D magazines) named “What’s New! With Phil & Dixie”, an adult comic named “Xxxenophile” and a sci-fi comic named “Buck Godot”.
You can find most of them on the very same site as “Girl Genius” if you rummage around a little (not Xxxenophile, of course).
He also made a new, amusing version of some of DC Comics’s classic comedy comics (they were AMAZING! …then DC Comics, being DC Comics, paid someone else to turn them into deep, angsty drama. When will they learn that you can’t mess with perfection?)
He also illustrated a metric PootisTon of games, from MtG cards to board games to RPG covers to… well, let’s just say that he’s a poliedric artist, author and writer. And has a top-notch team.
No, that was pretty much the point I left too.
Well, to be honest, I know him just for Girl Genius, but I know it had a career in the “classic” comic industry.
Actually, it’s a surprise that he could adapt so well to the new media. Girl Genius is indoubtably a success, and a quality product.
Dude, of course Girl Genius is a masterpiece… it’s PHIL FREAKIN’ FOGLIO we’re talking about!
Maybe you’re right, but for me that hint is buried too deep in the shit that came after.
I left most of the webcomics because they either ended (duh!), or became boring, or I had not enough time to follow them.
I recently re-discovered XKCD (well, it’s more than a year) and, above all, that masterpiece of Girl Genius.
Well, for one, “Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic” - tried to be a D&D based comedy, fell short ~~, then “General Protection Fault” ~~ came for the geek yuks, left when it became geek drama - and a few others.
Basically, Sinfest only keeps me because there IS still a hint of what it was and could be again. Those others? Not even that hint.
Honestly, if Sinfest wasn’t among them, what whas?!
It’s the only webcomic that made me ragequit!
I was one, but I think I left the comic even before you.
Do you remember the strip when Tatsuya ripped the readers’ complaints about the new arc.
There. The last time I went to that site.
There’s not too many I’ve really gotten into. Sinfest and The Last Days of Fox Hound are really the only two I was a die-hard fan of.
…I still read it.
I have no idea why.
I guess I’m just nostalgic… Only a handful of webcomics actually made me quit for good.
