@Techy Pony
Thanks, the model was actually rendered in mental ray and took a damn long time (mainly because I suck at setting it up to run efficiently).
The model is indeed very low poly, I just applied a meshsmooth modifier for this render. If you go to the source you’ll see that this was indeed made for a game originally, and yes, I have already made an interior which I plan on texturing soon.
@Impossible9
That and probably just a consequence of being “cartoony”.
It’s a nice model, neat night lighting as well. Are you going to make an interior? Is this for games? (I ask because it looks low poly, that could actually be entirely the rendering engine though if you’re using sfm or the like)
@Techy Pony
You’re probably getting that effect because the model is sitting on a flat solid surface, which would remind you of a desk, for example.
Placed in a “proper” environment there would be no such ambiguity, but the purpose of this render is to show off the model itself rather than to present an actual scene.
It just looks like as a glowing model on someone’s desk or something. I’m not sure how one would go about making something look big without other objects in the scene. (Maybe perspective and depth of field)
