I think the reason Pinkie showed no violent tendencies in Party of One is more due to the restrictions on the show itself than anything else. Granted, I agree with the notion of Pinkie in “Pinkamena Mode” is just in a very negative mood. However, if the show had less restrictions on it, Pinkamena might’ve been more violent. Perhaps not on anypony, but perhaps breaking stuff in a fit of rage.
I think most fans realize that. The subset that conflates “Cupcakes” with depressed Pinkie from “Party of One”, though, is very prolific and outspoken.
Thank you! Yes! I’ve been saying all along that Pinkamena is simply sad, lonely Pinkie who desperately needs hugs and reassurance. Mad Slasher Pinkie is complete fanon.
Even in Party of One, even when she was convinced that her friends hated her, Pinkie never exhibited any violent tendencies at all. She withdrew from everypony else.
Well, in any context of sadness she looks like this. Well, maybe not exactly, but still. It could be a particularly dreary day or the worst moment of her life and the fandom would assume that Cupcakes is canon instead of… well… anything reasonable. Anything else that’d make much more sense than cupcakes, is pushed aside for cupcakes references. Sure it’s popular, but it wasn’t even that good.
She’s not miserable. She’s just sad because she thinks her friends dumped her.
I don’t see the same thing happening to Rainbow Dash, or Twilight, and her breakdown was canon!
