And it took you almost a year to realize this.
Not true. The EQG doll line started as a mess when it comes to capturing the outfits from the movies, but the Rainbow Rocks line has a number of improvements, which includes the dolls wearing the outfits from the movies.

(It’s also to note they wear those outfits in the latest 30 second clip of Rainbow Rocks, so those outfits ARE in the movie). The mane 6 also wear the same rocker outfits in some clips as they do in the toyline. And considering they just released The Mane 6 in their regular show-accurate attire in the dolls, I’m quite sure they’re intending to make the dolls have matching outfits now.
Interesting… yet at no point in any of the released clips do we see Sunset in anything other than her usual get-up.
If only we could see her skirt in this scene we would know for sure.
In any case, character designs for EqG have never matched the crappy toy vectors and I doubt they will suddenly start to do so.
No, that’s a different outfit, just with her signature leather jacket over it. And she tucked it into her necklass so no one would notice… wait, since when does she wear a necklace?
Is she hiding a siren’s amulet? Look at the color of what is under the tucked shirt…
I still ain’t convinced.
Would prefer Sunset be the protagonist of the movie rather than The Anointed Purple One. Am disappoint that said violet horse-turned-mutant does indeed appear.
Echoing what Evowizard already said, even if Twilight once again takes over everything, Sunset will always be the main character to me.

MLP:FIM has been good in this regard. Others shows on the other hand, not so much.
