I thought it was awesome when it happened for the first time, with the Dairangers. It put out there the idea of the ‘lost’ team that they’ve apparently tried to include more than once.
And then it happens over and over and over, with suits that mean nothing to this audience, even though since they’re only using half of Gokai there is NO shortage of X-Borg battles involving MMPR-and-onward suits.
Still wonder why they didn’t do them like they did Shinkenger, with two 20-episode seasons for Goseiger and Gokaiger. Both could have been done much more satisfyingly. Either they really, REALLY hate us, or… uh, stuff behind the scenes prevented the intended coolness.
@trashboat
Yeah, like when I saw them use the suits from ‘Flashman’ I went “WTF, THIS IS POWER RANGERS, NOT SUPER SENTAI, DON’T FUCKING PULL OUT SUITS THAT WEREN’T USED!”
Not to mention, they were kind of picking and choosing with the suits; some would get cut out, while others would be left in. Even the example shown here replaced VulEagle with MMPR Red… making entirely original footage WITH the pre-Zyu suits shown here.
Also, there’s an extended version of the episode that makes things a LITTLE better… but not by much.
I think the addition of the pre-Zyu suits was a good idea… that wasn’t really executed right. I mean, the Mighty Morphin’ team was clearly not the first team so these other teams existing make sense at the very least.
The problem? The idea of it wasn’t fully explored. They’re just new suits and powers that come out of blue. Nothing else. I dunno if Bandai wanted them included with the intent for toys or what.
Apparently, when Jason David Frank was asked about the whole “Tommy went from being a race car driver to having a PHD in paleontology in 6 years” thing at one of the Power Morphicons, he said that he didn’t really get it either.
@Prof.NightJack
I didn’t mean to imply you were’nt a fan,I’m just stating the reasons for my opinions.o.o had massive contnuity flubs,but they kept it contained to once a ranger,and like i said earlier,overdrive came after i had almost given up hope on the disney seasons.
@Background Pony #8E32
You talk like I’m not a Ranger fan….
Most Ranger fans I know can point out the continuity problem of DT and still like it but hate Overdrive.
@Prof.NightJack
Like kevin smith said:“comic book fans love their contnuity.dino thunder ignored the contnuity.it’s just some weird little thing that bugs me.dino thunder still had lots of cool stuff though.like cassidy and devon.
@Background Pony #8E32
I really don’t get how Dino Thunder almost made you quite but you liked Overdrive.
It seems to be the most hating by Ranger fans.
@Jarkes
I liked operation overdrive,but agree that it’s filled with problems,but when i first saw it i really liked it because mystic force was meh,spd was kinda…something.and dino thunder was the absolute worst that almost made me stiop watching the series.
I actually really like Goseiger, though Megaforce is fine too.
Honestly, I still blame a lot of the problems of Megaforce & Super Megaforce on Nickelodeon’s arbitrary 20-episodes-per-season limit, which caused both seasons to get rushed as all hell and not give much time for actual character development. I do like Samurai quite a bit though, and agree with you on how it’s possible to enjoy the Power Rangers seasons and their corresponding Sentai counterparts for entirely different reasons from each other. …Except Overdrive. There’s no question there that Boukenger is simply better in every way.
@Prof.NightJack
so far,all the toku shows i’ve seen(which have been quite a few)i’ve liked,the only one I had a big problem with was dino thunder.even then,some good things.I did’nt care for spd,but i liked sam.
@Background Pony #8E32
I can find enjoyment in them as well but Shinkenger is a little better then Samurai to me, it doesn’t take a lot to make Megaforce better then Goseiger(it felt like a train wreck with how they had three groups before the big bad was “reviled” and they rushed thought them all), but Super Megaforce has had me faceplaming to much for how they could of switched a few words around and would work so much better(as I said before instead of saying “new powers” they said it was other alien teams) it’s like an insult to Gokaiger to me.
I’m a fan of both PR and SS and do not let how I feel about one get in the way of how i view the others, I love Dekaranger and SPD just as much but for very different reasons and saw SpD first.
@Prof.NightJack
anyway…I really enjoyed super megaforce.along with the other “Neo-Saban” power rangers seasons.I thought they were really well-done.yes I saw shinkenger first,but I honestly thought samurai was better.plus,it helps that I’m aware that if saban had never reaquired power rangers,disney would’nt be making anything new with it,no old series on dvd,no new upcoming movie,maybe more reversion series…wouldn’t that just be prime?
@Background Pony #8E32
I can take the beetleborgs suits as there was a problem with budget(Disney at the time didn’t get the reasoning behind the team-ups and that it was for the tenth anniversary, so not much money was given to them and it was used mostly for the actors pay), the motocross gear didn’t make a lot of sense without some altering to them to seem like it would be some kind of armor but they didn’t do that, as for the reused helmet, well they did alter them at lest(and I really not bugged by the red time force suit used for Shy’s father, I kind of see it in a way like Linkara’s theories that because Wes and Eri keept their morphers they worked on the tech and SPD Earth branch came from the Silver Guardian, so the same looking suits.
Well, I don’t know why the first fifteen Super Sentai series from Gorenger to Jetman weren’t adaptated into Power Rangers.
That’s something I don’t get. You replaced VulEagle…AND YET YOU LEFT ALL THE OTHER PRE-ZYU RANGERS IN!?
Did the guy in charge just hate the Sun Vulcan team or something?!
And then it happens over and over and over, with suits that mean nothing to this audience, even though since they’re only using half of Gokai there is NO shortage of X-Borg battles involving MMPR-and-onward suits.

yes, but “majority’s rule”
