Unlike that stipulation, I highly doubt the particular function that I’m referring to is one they’ll ever have any reason to change.
And if one rule can be broken so easily…
There was also a rule that travel through the pony/human mirror was only possible every 30 moons.
Thanks to the mirror’s rules, it’s impossible to literally have humans in Equestria, so what’s the problem?
I believe that “no humans in FiM” was a rule made (and followed) by the production staff and creators of FiM. :)

Yeah, I’d love to see her on the show too, if only so she can have a chance to reconcile with Princess Celestia. But they’d have to be careful about how they discuss her backstory. “No humans in FiM” is (or should be) an ironclad rule, so any references to Equestria Girls or Rainbow Rocks would have to be fairly oblique.
Or, they could have her notice the book glowing, excuse herself from whatever she’s doing at the time, then write back to Sunset.

Though I really wish Sunset Shimmer would return to Equestria, maybe even to help defeat another villain. I would love the role reversal of Twilight calling out to Sunset needing her help. It could be great character development for both.
