I was thinking along the lines of a hole in the hat for it to stick through, but yeah, you’re right. It works nonetheless, so that’s okay.
I considered that when I sketched this and I tried to make the hat work along with the horn. Then I realized why the animators “get rid” of Trixie’s horn when she has her wizard hat on: it’d cause an awkward bulge to be there
