I like Button Mash! I just think the guy complaining about the ridiculous notion that Jan turned him into a self-insert so he could ship himself with Sweetie Belle is freaking bonkers.
The kid was playing a videogame in the only scene he was in and Sweetie was there. The entire character is centered around that and calling him a self insert is just completely absurd.
Is there no one here who likes Button Mash now?
I was actually agreeing with you. I just worded it poorly.
What I really meant by that was that regardless of Jan “turning button into a self-insert”, the groundwork for the ship was already laid out by the scene.

Sides, the whole “Two characters, one scene = SHIP” happens way too much. It’s like what happened with The Last Round-up, Twilight was seen next to a colt, they look at each other, and boom, FAN ART.
No, I was talking about how VermiII was saying how Jan turned Button into his own self-insert OC so he can ship himself with Sweetie being stupid.
I know of how ships start with them just in the same place and that doesn’t bug me but to clam he turned a random background character into a self-inset to ship himself with another character is the dumbest thing I have heard.

It literally just..made me facepalm. Either the guy never saw Hearts and Hooves Day, which had Button Mash in one scene. And then Jan rolled with it and established him as a big character for Button’s Adventures.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND that resulted with Hasbro’s lawyers coming in.
