Sunset’s book shows the girls in chemistry class takin a test sooo, they ARE actually learning.
That, and we see a bit of it in the comics.
Plus, in “Pinkie On The One”, I assume that Granny Smith is teaching Pinkie home ec.
I’d like to see a scene that’s at the very tail end of a class because an actual lesson might not be very interesting.
But it’s not like no class ever occurs. In the first movie there’s a scene where Twilight looks through a window and sees Cheerilee teaching a class.
Watched/listened to its review. That chick flick is…
Can the production teams write smarter plot points, but less random scenes for the next animated film?
A much higher mortality rate though.
Hogwarts has a ton of class and homework scenes in the books, albeit barely any in the movies. You don’t need to conserve detail nearly so hard when you have space.
Besides, so far their classes just haven’t been important to the story.
I know, but your comment wasn’t loaded on the page there until after I posted mine.
That’s what I’m trying to say.
I’m pretty sure it’s the same reason that we don’t really see the characters in the show at their jobs unless it’s convenient. Like, I can only think of one episode where Pinkie was actually WORKING at Sugarcube Corner. They just skip ahead to after school/lunchtime/study hall/break period.
If EG had it’s own series, I bet there’d be more in class scenes though.
Well you don’t exactly want to clutter things up with that if it doesn’t fit in anywhere. (Rainbow Rocks did a better job of not leaving clutter around than Equestria Girls 1).
& all the explicit examples listed you gave are full shows that get more time to show scenes like that or any other kind of scene for that matter.
So far, Equestria Girls is just a couple of movies.
Conservation of detail & all that.
We did see Cheerilee doing her job, so someone is going to class. But if the school’s attendance records are anything like their enrollment records, there’s not a whole heck of a lot they can do about truancy.
You sound pretentious, but I agree.
If EqGirls had actual slice-of-life school moments, even though these are boring/uninteresting to some, like homeroom teachers, study time, written exams, a Student Body/Council…sorry, Anime aficionado here.
Western audiences are raised on Saved by the Bell, That 70’s Show (first few seasons), any teen sitcom from Disney (That’s So Raven, Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montana…), any teen sitcom from Nickelodeon, etc.
Or Vice-Vice Principal.
At least Hogwarts has actual classes, though.
