nope. they died out millenia ago. they were assimilated by the species long ago, basically devoured and integrated.
Also, Ryuko has a red streak in her tail, which is fantastic. And kind of implies that Life Fibers are a thing in Equestria, though they clearly haven’t had much effect on ponies.
The only writer that really gives arc or story names is Katie Cook. This is not her work though off the top of my head I forget who is.

Mako is a character from the anime Kill La Kill. Basically, the ponies at the ramen stand are supposed to be pony versions of her and Ryuko, the main character in Kill La Kill.
