>I did no such thing.
“You felt the need to jump on a guy over a week after he’d commented and tell him ’oh no you’re being offensive to somebody who will never read this’.”
I did neither of what you just said. I did not jump on Dirty Bit, nor did I tell him that he was being offensive. So yeah, you are accusing me of something I did not do.
>You have heard of hyperbole, yes? You understand that it’s a basic part of conversation? I really hope for your sake that you didn’t honestly think I cared enough to do research on how many people hate the word ’guy’. Taking things seriously for no reason, which are obviously not literal, is how the aforementioned people act. So, yes, you have quite a bit in common with those people.
And yet you’re getting serious in this supposed conversation in order to make me look like I’m in the wrong here. Hyperbole is that last you should be doing in this case.
>I like how you go completely ad hominem and just say ’lol you’re dumb’ when you can’t get a last word. Now, again, who’s being defensive?
You’re being defensive. You made a big deal out of something that wasn’t a big deal to begin with; you perceived me of attacking another person with context to back that up, instead accusing me of saying and doing something that I did not do, and then associating me with things based on nothing but your own false perception: You are acting like an immature child, so it’s not an ad hominem because what you have said has been based around your behavior, so yeah, grow up.
Reply back if you want, but I’m not gonna keep going on like this. And no, it isn’t any kind of back-peddling or chickening out if you gonna accuse me of that. This is obviously nothing more than a pissing contest, and I ain’t gonna waste my time anymore with someone like you. And no, getting the last word and not getting a response back is under any indication that you won. I have no need to put with this behavior anymore. Good day.
>Don’t make up stuff that I did not say.
I did no such thing.
>99.9% is a real stretch of a claim. Got any data to back up that exact claim? No? Then you’re ironically doing what you’re accusing me of; trivializing people. More funny that you bring up white knighting and tumblr when those are things I have nothing in common with.

>Grow up and stop getting personal about things you don’t understand.
I like how you go completely ad hominem and just say ‘lol you’re dumb’ when you can’t get a last word. Now, again, who’s being defensive?
What need to jump on a guy? I didn’t say anything of the sort to Dirty Bit, only said what the artists’ gender was. I’ve made no judgement on Dirty Bit of any kind, only wanting to share a bit of information about the artist. That was it. Don’t make up stuff that I did not say.

Your response just now fully shows that you’re the one whose getting defensive, not me. Grow up and stop getting personal about things you don’t understand.
You’re the one being defensive. You felt the need to jump on a guy over a week after he’d commented and tell him ‘oh no you’re being offensive to somebody who will never read this’.
There are people who experience real problems of identity - in the real world - and by pretending you can speak for the lot of them like that, you’re trivialising those people. Guess what; 99.9% of people couldn’t give less of a damn about a person who has never heard of them referring to them simply as a person they don’t know. The other .1% are apparently people like yourself, who apparently think that using a general pronoun when they don’t know any better is somehow offensive.
Leave the white knighting to Tumblr.
It ain’t special snowflake territory; they just want to be respected for who they are rather than be generalized as something they’re not. Even if ‘guy’ is used in the vague, general term, it still carries a connotation with it. You don’t see people who ‘gal’ in the vague, general sense to refer to anyone including men, so I don’t see how this should be seen as any different. Sure, saying it directly in their face or intentionally using the wrong pronoun is not a smart move, but that doesn’t mean that such issues aren’t caused unintentionally either.
By this point, I was simply pointing it out to Dirty Bit, who went oops. There was no harm or foul done, so there’s no need to get all defensive about it.
Yeah, well, at that point they’re descending dangerously deep into special snowflake territory.
If someone were addressing them directly and just called them ‘guy’ to their face, or intentionally used the wrong pronoun, then I could see a possible problem.
That depends on the case. Some people don’t take likely to the vague use of the word and would much prefer to be addressed by the word/pronoun for their actual gender than the vague “guy”.
Does it really matter? It doesn’t change the meaning of what he said.
And, for the record, ‘guy’ is a pretty vague term, and lots of people use it without a gender connotation.
Oops
The artist is a girl.
No argument here.
It kinda rolls off the tongue.
Good point.
How about SonataScotch instead?
That might get mistaken for a Butterscotch/DuskShine ship, though.
Do we dub this one ButterDusk?
“Um I don’t think a taco is an animal.”
“But it comes from a farm right?”
“So your favorite animal is a cow?”
“…What do cows have to with tacos? Don’t tacos come from taco farms?
