Taking back some of what I said, I don’t have much detail here. If he did it to prevent a riot, OK although it at least seems to me as if he was being asinine in his manner of talking to Sea Swirl. But if he did it to oppose the poor (Sea Swirl - and this may also apply to the crowd and the whole town and Filthy Rich himself), Horrible.

Here I write a possible next scene on stage:
 
Vinyl Scratch walks on stage and is given Trophy
 
Vinyl: “Filthy Rich,” Filthy Rich is appalled Vinyl: “And yes I know you hate that name but I use the name to get your attention. You call that young mare that you scared away back here right now! I totally reject this trophy without you at least giving her some opportunity to sing for this crowd and if you don’t, I smash the trophy because I don’t deserve it!”

And a few panels back Sapphire Shores complimented Sea Swirl here. Filthy Rich is a dumb-ass in this panel, not even giving Sea Swirl opportunity to walk on the stage or any notification to the crowd. Vinyl Scratch not opposing him was ignorant in what to respond with in defense of Sea Swirl too, she doesn’t really deserve that award without giving Sea Swirl at least some opportunity.

I don’t know why not just have some other random rich pony here. Sorry, but I really have when characters are mischaracterized for no reason other than the plot wouldn’t work otherwise, it’s a real pet peeve of mine.

Last time I checked, Filthy Rich was a reasonable pony who publicly punished her daughter for being very disrespectful to an Equestrian senior. He wasn’t a complete bellend.
