I’d like to think Sunset as a regular unicorn would fit better… not for canon purposes, but more to show how vastly different their power is, yet Sonata would still be distraught over being a siren because of how it looks in comparison to a pony, despite having godly powers over others.

I like to imagine that Sonata basically acts as Sunset’s Dragon, protecting and guarding her from all danger, resulting in much hilarity when the nobles find out that they’re lovers.
