Oh don’t get me started, I will seriously go to war over that atrocious mess of an episode…

And for the record, I didn’t really care for Maud’s sudden retcon either. As for the Dragon Code, it was, like almost all of Spike’s episodes, an element full of convenience. It had no good reason for being “made up” all of a sudden, any more than monstrous growth spurts or demonic comic books. Spike episodes are lazily written.

I liked “Putting Your Hoof Down,” (and Fluttershy does seem a bit more “assertive” ever sense said episode, so she seems to of gained some character-development from it) and I don’t think Spike eps are that bad.
The “dragon code” is a pretty minor thing to complain about, as characters have brought up similar random things out of nowhere. (Like Pinkie suddenly having a third sister.) I always assumed it was something Spike randomly made up, sense he tends to do silly/childish things like that sometimes. He is a child after all. (Also, notice said dragon code card he had looked written in crayon, or something?)

While SaYS is not my least favorite episode—that dishonor belongs eternally to Putting Your Hoof Down—it still wasn’t very good. The way Spike’s “rescue” of Applejack was set up just stunk, and the defeat of the Timberwolf King stunk even worse. Then there was Spike’s “dragon code” landing in our lap out of nowhere, and never being heard from again. It’s not unlike his balderdash transformation in SoME, now that I think about it. Spike episodes are just generally kind of bad for some reason.

The reason I separated the “Season 3,” and “Twilicorn” dramas separately, is because some people hated the quality of Season 3 in general, and not just because of “Twilicorn.” Some just hated the episodes, the quality, the “changes,” or Lauren Faust leaving, and such. So they was a li’l separate drama about Season 3 in general from the Twilicorn stuff.

I don’t think Season 3 was the best season, but I still enjoyed it.

@Mojo
I hate to admit it, but I kinda liked “Spike at your Service.” A common criticism of the ep’ is they made Spike to stupid/clumbsy/flanderized in it, but there were parts in that ep’ where he showed some competence. Like when he cleaned a few things without incident, and at the end of the ep’ saw through the disguise, and even defeated the giant boss Timberwolf. Not to mention other episodes before it have shown Spike to be clumbsy, mess things up, or say the wrong thing at an inapropriate moment. He’s especially clumbsy when he tries to hard to do something, so I just assumed he was “off his game,” because he was trying to hard to please Applejack. With Twilight, he doesn’t have to try that hard, so he’s a li’l less clumbsy. Though, people wrongly act like he never failed in the past before that. (Or afterwords.)

@DJDerpy2013
I think Season 2 was better then #1, but yeah it had some flaws to. As I said though, I enjoyed all the seasons overall.

I guess I forgive the earlier seasons for it ‘cuz I thought they were trying to establish rhythms and footholds and the like.

As for SayP, I can’t really pass judgment. I’m pretty meh on it.

I know there are things I certainly hated more.

The best day of this fandom are over since a long time.
Now this fandom that originate from contrarian is stuck in an eternal year 2013 because you were naive enough to think a toy company and “mercenaries” writers would care enough for a toyline they didnt create or own to care about stories.To the surprise of absolutely no one who think things through,this show is all about the style,not the content and mindlessly following trends that made their proofs in the market (insipid bubblegum pop and high school story) If you wanted to watch quality,then you would have stopped watched MLP from a long time
CronoM

S4 was good, yet confusing. They were not taking Twilight’s Sue story arc in a positive direction, yet half the time they actually pointed that out plain as day, while the other half of the time they acted completely ignorant of the issue.

For example…

The Season 4 finale literally reveled in the Sue-ness of her Princesss solo-act story, yet the Rainbow Rocks movie tore it a new one. And the Rainbow Rocks movie had far more consequence and morality driven then the finale, and infinitely better written as well. I just wish they didn’t waste Tirek of all people on such a bad story.

Yet the most baffling thing is that the movie was written by McCarthy….it just doesn’t add up.

the Twilicorn and S3 dramas are effectively the same thing, I always thought almost all of the drama was ridiculous with how seriously people took it, I mean you would of thought someone had personally sawed their brothers leg off or something.

But yeah 2013 was one thing after another, it poisoned the atmosphere of the fandom to the point where it’s still not how it was before and basically slowed our growth to a crawl and the fandom a much less welcoming place, it basically poisoned the fandom, 2012 had Derpygate sure but that was one thing and it went away after a few months 2013 had like 5 or 6 major dramas some of which still cause bad blood. That is why the fandom is so cautious about that sort of thing now, no one wants that again when we have still barely begun to recover from all the drama.

I agree on S1, like any season it has it’s great and meh episodes, like Suited for Success is a top 3 episode to me, while Owls Well that Ends well is the single most boring episode of the show to me (not sure if Id say the worst one though) it’s opener was by far the weakest of the 2 parters though, Nightmare Moon in S1 is kind of a total joke and completely unproactive, she was a lot better in the flashback sequence in S4.

@Beau Skunky
Honestly,I think season 2 is more “overrated”(forgive me quote signs but I hate the word overrated). It’s not that I think its awful,but its not as great as people make it out to be.Namely for having some of my least favorite/most hated episodes like Dragon Quest and Putting your hoof down.Though I don’t think season 1 is great as people make it out to be either.The Faust’s episodes are really weak,even for the first season and some of that seasons episodes are forgetable to bad.

Though it having more Slice Of Life stories doesn’t bug me since even though I’m not against Adventure stories,I feel that the writers have a harder time writing those compared to SoL.

2013 is probably the most drama-filled year of the fanbase. (The Twilicorn-drama, the “Season 3/jumping-the-shark” drama, the EqG movie drama, the DWM/Tumblr drama, and probably some others.)
It was NOT a good year for bronies… It was like drama constantly.

I’m going to be honest, I don’t really hate any of the seasons, or episodes. (Though, I don’t blindly love every ep’, or anything. I felt even the “mediocre” episodes were ok.)
Though, I’m starting to feel Season 1 is a bit overrated, sense all the Season 1-purists seems to feel it’s either “the best season,” or the “only good season.”
I like it, and it was a good introduction to the show, but to be honest, it had some flaws such as, animation-issues, Luna’s existence-ignored, (even a brief cameo in the finale would’ve been ok) focused to much on slice-of-life episodes then “adventure” eps, very few villains/monsters, (though I loved the diamond dogs personally) and such.

@Millennial Dan

I liked S4 well enough it’s not quite as good as S2 to me but it’s bit above S1 and well above S3, but that’s just my personal opinion, as for S5 I am not going to make any judgments until I know more than “there’s some weird equalist ponies in it” I did like RR though so I guess I am optimistic after that.

I wasn’t really saying that Cadance was very impressive, when I say that “she’s the one the show handles best” I basically mean that unlike Celestia she gets to be more than an expository device and unlike Luna she isn’t a complete inconsistent mess of a character who every writer seems to write completely different.

I have no problem with people being critical, I have loads of episodes I dislike and characters I am meh on. What I take issue with is the sort of people who go like “lol I haven’t watched the show in two years X happened to turn me against it” and can’t seem to ever shut up about that, I mean GOD why choose to spend time in a fandom based around something that now makes you bitter and angry? It doesn’t make any sense to me. I think I just spent too much time on /mlp/ before realizing how much I hated that place honestly.

I think the pony fandom is just hyper cutious about that sort of thing now cause of all the drama in 2013, I don’t think anyone wants a repeat of that.

I don’t care for season four at all, and I’ve never been impressed by Cadence. And quite honestly, season five doesn’t look to promising so far.

And you know what? Literally everyone needs to know this!

I kid of course. It’s better if the discussion has a bit of context. Even so, excessive attitude policing can happen just as easily as complaining. Fandoms have an unhealthy habit of assuming “bad faith” when it comes to people who criticize the thing they love. Meaningless rants and whining certainly aren’t good, but neither is marginalizing anyone who has a problem.
Mojo

@The Twelfth Doctor Whoof

There are people in this fandom who just seem to REVEL in being bitter, they stick around and wallow in misery because they secretly love it I guess.

Who didn’t like S4 more than S3? From what I have seen most people think 4 is around on par with 2, it was responded to postitively.

What made me laugh from that post is that he singled out Cadence, when honestly she’s the princess the show handles best.

If you don’t care about the show anymore, then why the hell are you here? Even if you might have a point about some of the tripe you just spewed, the fact you don’t have the stones to even create a profile here takes away any credibility you would have had. For the record, I actually liked S4 more than S3, even as my opinion of Twilight Sue Sparkle soured.

@Beau Skunky
I don’t believe Flash Sentry is what takes Twilight away from her friends.

Compared to having a Mary Sue for a Sister-in-law, becoming a fucking Alicorn, and whatever happened in the season 4 finale (I stopped watching MLPFIM regularly after season 3 so I haven’t seen it, but it sounds like shit), Having a boyfriend is the least of Twilights problems.
