…I guess she could be wearing a thong…

@Marusame
Are the two mutually exclusive?

On the other hand, if she had trouble with the concept of underwear, you have to wonder if at some point she didn’t understand that casual nudity was considered inappropriate in this world. (I think someone might have done that joke before, but with Twilight rather than Sunset.)

that would make sense, as sunset was originally a pony so might not actually have any or know to wear them. or more likely its just the artist wanting to show a little butt :3 (just a little)

Um… no. That was not what Twilight’s reaction was about. It was about her mentor being photographed and reported about without consent. I don’t know where you’re delusion are coming from and quite frankly, I’m scared to find out.

Twilight Sparkle: “Celestia just like us?!”

It is confusing why she is written like a cultist who doesn’t think for herself and expected to be a main protagonist. Its completely irrational save for the fact she needs to follow Celestia’s orders/‘the plot’ without question. Your earlier comment was just as irrational, but this image is not the place for it. Get a user name if you want a proper rebuttal and get off this comments page. We don’t need any pathetic rage-ers like you on an unrelated picture of Sunset Shimmer. Grow up.

@Scrounge
Sounds good to me :) I’d rather not continue anymore circular Twilight Sparkle debate on this picture. She’s a controversial and confusingly written character, and fan perspectives vary greatly.

Lets just just enjoy the great Sunset Shimmer picture.

Really folks? Are we really arguing now that Twilight is a “puppet princess” and that Sunset deserves to usurp her?

What exactly is even meant by “puppet princess”? Are we talking about her being Celestia’s answer to every problem? Well, in case it hasn’t been made clear enough for you, for whatever reason Celestia is grooming Twilight to be her successor. The implications of that have yet to even start to be explored, but that’s pretty obvious to anyone actually watching the show. Do you mean that she’s really, really OP and the writer’s puppet? Well, didn’t the movie kind of show that Twilight can’t solve everything? That sometimes she does need to rely on others and can be defeated?

As for the other part….the movie does not prove that Sunset deserves to usurp Twilight! Instead, it reinforces my idea that she should be to the Human world what Twilight is to Equestria. I’ve been saying that Sunset should be the human Element of Magic. That’s what the movie proved.

And the fact that she was able to pony up just reinforces that more. SOMETHING woke up in Sunset. Prior to this film, what woke up in the others was some kind of connection to their Elements. So, if you know your syllogisms and your logic classes, it follows that an Element awoke in Sunset. Unless there’s a hidden 7th element, one would have to assume it’s the Element of Magic.

Its not really a hard concept to understand. Its not as if we are suddenly taking a fiction too seriously, they simply removed the aspect of consequence from the earlier S3 and S4 finales for Twilight to make her life practically without flaws. In that sense, the finales were taken seriously infinitely less then the average episodes.

The movie suddenly brought that aspect of moral and responsibility consequence in full. They could of written Rainbow Rocks as lazily and without consequence as they did the last finales or the earlier movie, but they decided to completely alter the theme and make it far better written.

So wait…
The way you phrased something earlier, it seemed kind of like you were implying that if a character expresses doubt in herself then the writer is expressing doubt in that character.
& what makes her status as a princess any more meaningless than the other three’s?

@OneOverTwo
I didn’t mean the entirety of the movie(didn’t phrase it correctly), but the point is the writing and lesson for Twilight in the movie was far more intelligent then what you are suggesting.

What the heck makes you think I think that? Even if I did think that that particular aspect was a “band-aid” the movie’s still more about Sunset Shimmer than anyone else.
I mean, why do assume that I think that one part of the movie was the entirety of it?
CronoM

@OneOverTwo
That’s only a watered down version of what I said that ignores the fact Twilight has taken her Celestia-given role for granted for a really long time, and has taken that self-important mindset to heart until reformed Sunset showed her it was wrong. The entire moral surrounding Twilight in the movie went against everything Celestia pressed on Twilight in the past 4 finales/premiers, which didn’t give a crap about the importance of the other 5.

Did you really think the movie was just a band-aid solution for the writers trying to assure the audience ‘Twilight can’t solve everything’? Rainbow Rocks had far better writing that that.

Wasn’t the point supposed to be that Twilight wouldn’t always have the answers?
Like that she wasn’t omnipotent or anything.
You know, to make it so the character didn’t just make all the other characters meaningless.
