And the second he gets out of the hoosegow, he goes to the same table he was at during the invasion, and goes back to reading.

And then everyone just looked at him as he reads while he just sits there and ignore them completely.  
Even the guards don’t know what to do.

Even then it’s just like a small “Nnngh” and a gentle shove so he can go back to reading.
 
Dude was probably captured by going “Oh okay sure fine” and being escorted while reading to a cell, where it’s actually pretty comfortable and he’s very well behaved, so he gets some nice luxuries, including but not limited to a bunch of adventure books which he happily reads.
 
Sometimes Princess Luna, Twilight Sparkle, and Cadance visit for a friday night book club, Where they help changeling relations by reading and discussing the finer points of adventure literature over tea. Princess Luna also regales tales of her battles and adventures before her banishment. Cadance also brings hidden adventures that she held from the public, being a secret adrenaline junkie, as stories to the group.

Wow, the shield thingy is awfully nice to let him keep reading.

The only time he gets hostile is when you purposely interrupt his reading session.

I can’t even begin to imagine what the other ponies reaction will be to seeing that changeling still there, just reading.
