Heck, I remember a 60’s or 70’s Mr. Magoo cartoon where he portrayed various historical characters, and Magoo got killed dead on screen more than once along with other characters. That was surprising to see when I was a boy.
I totally agreed

It was something I made for Fimfic.net Quite happy you liked it. :)
Please link me the source of your avatar!
I wouldn’t have been surprised if this happened during his episodes.
That was some insane levels of bad luck.

I think the key difference is how old 80s / early 90s cartoons,
had that childlike whimsy and cuteness to them most of the time,
a charming fairy tale feeling.
This is what makes fairy tales all the more scary when they suddenly go (semi)grimdark.
Ah…Back when cartoons and kid friendly has serious balls. Granted, some toons today still do…But not the same
This reminds me of how much a scen from the Care Bares Nutcracker special scared me. The one where the Vaseer turned the characters one by one into firewood.
That shit gave me nightmares.
Even the 1990s had this. Ah, I remember my first “Are You Afraid Of The Dark?” Episode where a kid dies by falling off a bridge in the first four minutes with his friend failing to save him and then showing up as a ghost to his friend years later. Nobody else sees his ghost of course.

OMG, it kinda does in the second panel…
Most of G1 was pretty dark, I loved the hell out of it when I was a kid.
though I am open to a debate about how his name should be spelled. :P
They rescued their friends, whom he had kidnapped, and in the process meddled in his planned backstabbing of his employer.
If this showed Shrock actually carrying through on his threat, then yes.
What they do to you, guy?
