Y’know, I found out later that actually “blowing” on the game cartridges is bad for them. Sure it may get the dust off, and may get them to temporarily work, but I read in Nintendo Power several years back that the moisture in your breath can actually damage the cartridge connectors, and make them not work very well over time if you do it to much.  
In fact, due to this, my NES games don’t work as well as my SuperNES games do. (Which I didn’t do that as much on.)
