You actually turned out wrong. We see Sunset as a pony again in later installments and she’s very clearly orange. Not to mention Twilight turns a lighter shade of purple when she becomes human.

you can clearly tell that one part of the mane is yellow and her coat is orange. they simply swapped those colors. They did the same with Cheerilee so don’t tell me they wouldn’t do that
I think there’s a version somewhere that has Watermelody as a desktop human.
Nah, she actually is a much darker, almost orangish shade. Which you can see on her little pony running around the screen if you’re viewing this on April 1st. It’s actually Equestria Girls that makes the characters a much lighter skintone, presumably because it would weird if they didn’t.
Side note: Someone clearly needs to make a desktop pony version of Watermelody.

The only reason she looked orange in EqG was because it was dark, and even then it was easy to see she was yellow
