As I think back to when I first read the story in high school and how token and rushed the teacher discussed it before moving on to the next story which made me dismiss it as just a weird text book blurb, I find myself appreciating how scarily close the story parrarels modern political movements. I imagine that publishing such a story today would probably get the author a lot of flak from certain social movements that claim to value open minds and tolerance.
