IRL Lava can have a temperature of 700 to 1200 degrees Celsius when it comes out of the ground. I’s say there’s already enough of a wide range for “relatively cool” and “relatively hot” lava to be a thing for dragons.
Based on what we see here and what happened with Spike in the show, I begin to wonder if the laws of science in Equestria are different enough to allow for relatively cool lava.
That or I ought to remember that this is all just a cartoon/comic for kids and I’m seriously overthinking this.
Based on the next page, “murder” really doesn’t apply here as she states the changeling was (likely) fine.

Where’s that Pinkie Pie comment when you need it?
What a Magma-ficent way to die.
Dragons are lava proof, the changeling she threw in isn’t…
That still leaves three out of four individuals jobbing just to make Chrysalis look uber smart.
On the next page, she does believe her underling survived (she thinkgs). I would assume that the “hot hot hot!” line means he didn’t die but simply needed to cool off for a bit after getting out. And of course, being demoted.
That is actually not that very uncommon. Alot of time a “ruler” in a fight is just a figure head for hope, they still follow the commands of a captain whom has more experience on the battle field
Presumably, it was like an overheating hot tub.
On the next page we find out the dragon was not hurt by the lava and made it out alive.
Reading the rest is key people!
In the show, they do. These writers are just lazy.
As dynamic said, in an earlier page, that Changeling suggested that Chrysalis ask the dragon to breathe fire to help them escape. Needless to say, it didn’t work.
What’s the common word for that? “Jobbing”?
Woah.
That changeling nearly got them all killed with his stupidity on the previous page. That’s why she was angry at him.
Context is key people!
