I completely disagree. That’s an emotional response with no valid logical reasoning behind it. None that I’ve yet seen, at any rate. People don’t like him because he was “made for Twilight,” which is ironically kind of a romantic-sounding notion, depending on how you phrase it. People are just goofy.

So you admit to a double standard? Cause that’s what that is. If Hasbro and DHX instead made Flash female and everything played out as is, noone except the fringe minority would raise a fuss over it. You could give that exact same description to male Flash but how many people would accept it? Honestly? Besides, Flash has a canon personality. It’s a poorly actualized personality but it’s there. With background ponies, they weren’t already hated well before he even showed up. Granted, the hate was warranted but I don’t know if there anyone wanting to salvage his personality.
 
In fact the first EQG had Sunset Shimmer who didn’t have the greatest personality at first, but some people still latched onto her, I’m willing to bet more than Flash. It wasn’t until Fall of Sunset Shimmer and EQG:RR that more people made her their waifu.
 

 
For the record, I agree that Flash leaves much to be desired and that I don’t care if you judge male and female Flash on different standards. Just letting you know that you are.

You live in America? That’s cool, and since you shared part of your life story with me, I might as well do the same so here’s mine: I live in Australia, where it’s pretty much accepted.
 
But once again, ‘social norm’ and it has nothing to do with religion (and religion affects the individual, not a group altogether. Different members of a political party can have different beliefs and religions, and that’s completely fine). And yes, I know that things like these are being slowly and widely accepted in the world, unless it’s affecting me entirely, I don’t have a problem with it as I do have some close friends who act like that. I’m just looking at things from a health-deterministic view.

Except my description lends much more to personality than his. I only judge him because he was tailored for Twilight in appearance, but gave him nothing other than his awkward guitar-playing stereotype. Also the fact Twilight seems to reciprocate it, even though the aforementioned lack of personality.
 
I have no negative feelings towards Flash, just Hasbro’s depiction of him. They could’ve handled him so much better.

Well I suppose it is a bit shallow, but there are plenty of background ponies without canon personalities that people ship. I hate male Flash because he’s forced on Twi, but if he were female he’d most likely be given a personality either by Hasbro or the fandom.

If you were to ask me of my decision, I wouldn’t support Girl x Girl. As friends yes, but shipping-wise, not really because morals and rules.
