This fact would be a useful source for assumptions if we were trying to imagine what the real world dragon could be like.
But in case of Spike - a fictional character - he could be anything. He could gain sexual maturity at the age of 10 or 10,000. Or maybe never - who knows? Maybe dragons in FiM universe can’t even have sex, and dragon eggs pop out magically from overgrown eggplants.
