The largest problem is that the way - at least Andy Price draws - tends to fill the whole space so as to get standalone pony shots (ala RBD here) is a rarity than common.
 
That’s not to say there’s a wealth of shots in the comics to ste^HH^Hborrow from. Just not as easy to find the best shot to use from the show.
 
Also, as someone noted on my first attempt (bad advice fluttershy), shading makes a big difference here. Not that the vectoring isn’t misrepresenting the scene but Price uses shading pretty darn well to give dimension that, within the show, the animation conveys.
