Ah, long-held (and abruptly subverted) expectations plus understandable concern about her in-law-to-be’s potential hazard factor. Might be cold comfort at this precise juncture, but Shiney & Cadie seem likely to keep up their end of Velvet’s Grandma Goal Checkbook(C)…at least, until/unless Silfoe opts to toss them a few crystal curveballs.
Not quite, I think it’s more of its not what Velvet imagined. She’s basically had the best life for her kids ever, since she watched her son marry a princess and grow into a valiant knight, while her daughter became a princess and multiple savior of Equestria. I’m pretty sure all that Velvet was hoping for in the future was Twilight or Cadance showing up with their husbands and announcing they’re pregnant, to much rejoicing, and then her nurturing her daughters through dealing with pregnancy and then being at their side when the baby is delivered. Basically, she wanted the fairytale her family was living in to continue for just a little bit longer. It may be projecting, but isn’t all she wants the best for her daughter?
Also, I get the feeling that it may also just be because of who Luna is. You wouldn’t be too happy to learn that your daughter is dating somepony who tried to kill her the first time they met, all thanks to essentially jealousy issues. There’s a lot more to Velvet’s side than ‘eww mares can’t love mares!’
Suppose it could simply be Mom & Pop getting cheesed at Twiley forgetting to keep ’em in the loop; remember how steamed Twi herself was with the BBBFF over his minimal-notice betrothal with the fillysitter? Failures to communicate seem to be a recurring theme in this household.
Yes, give us conflict, please!
Please don’t do it like “Oh, so you gay… well OK.”
I’m really hungry for conflicts and drama.
Want some fight and maybe then Velvet said that she disappointed in her, and don’t want to speak with her ever again (disowning her)
And maybe later through self mental anguish they will come to harmony and will be family again.
P.S. Too many Dark fics)

Hm, you figure she’s the type to get hung up about adopted grandfoals?
(Drum crash)
Exactly. Think of the benefits Velvet.

What an appropriate term
Because lesbians are bad apparently.
Y’now, I think the fact that it’s LUNA kinda eclipses the fact that Twilight’s gay.
