Fascinating. Thank you.
The Houthis are more like Hezbollah than ISIS. They’re Shiites, not Sunnis like ISIS, and are more of a local Yemeni thing than ISIS’s global aspirations. Their stated goals are to oppose the spread of Salafism (the ideology that gave birth to ISIS and al-Qaeda) and to defend the local Shiite population from discrimination. However, they are heavily backed by Iran, and have engaged in tactics that violate international law in their fight against Yemen’s government, so Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries strongly oppose them.
This just brings in new questions.
There is a ‘FTW’ in Arabic? Why are the names in English (or at least the Roman alphabet)? Does Al-Houthi share the view about bring about a new ‘Islamic State’, harkening back to um… ah drat… that more or less ‘golden age’? I forget the term. I do know a few things about this, but my memory for terms is bad.
Thank you for the translation!
Saudi : Eat shit you and your stupid logo we arent kids to believe you
