Anyway, this is Spanish we’re talking about, not English. And “son of a bitch” / “bastard” is the closest equivalent of “hijo de puta”; literally “son of a whore” / “whoreson.”
Puta = prostitute, whore; puto = male prostitute, man-whore (and, apparently, “fag”).
Fair enough. We’ll have to agree to disagree on that bit. To my knowledge, bitch has a distinctly feminine connotation in English (probably because of its original meaning), and there isn’t a male equivalent.
…oh, well, I suppose you could substitute bastard.
The translations for puto I could find in about ten seconds on Google boiled down to “man-whore” or “pejorative for gay.”
I’d count the first as a slur (except maybe when used literally for someone’s profession) and the second is a slur by definition, so…
Google Translate translates “vales verga, puto” as “vouchers cock fucking,” which isn’t very helpful.
Also, “son of a bitch” is “hijo de puta”. Note that puta and puto are feminine and masculine forms of the same word.
There are no slurs in the image. There is, however, one in the description.
(The translation is inaccurate IMO; I would personally translate it as you’re not worth shit, you son of a bitch.)
A slur in a different language is still a slur.
