Why does almost every Sparity image’s comment section devolve into a big ass debate about Spike’s age?

What the show writers and comic writers and all of those people involved say and think about it does matter because they are what create the show and give us all of our material for the world and the characters. Whether or not you think Spike acts like a real kid or whatever doesn’t matter because they say he is and is supposed to be and so that’s how they’re going to keep writing him. However you might think Equestrian laws or morality or whatever might or should be different, they’re the ones who create Equestria and define it and how they decide it works and what they decide to do with it is what happens. And they say the idea of Spike and Rarity being in a romantic relationship or her even returning his feelings would be wrong because the age difference makes it inappropriate. Since they write Equestria and the characters that means Equestria would also consider it wrong, and it’s never going to happen for the characters. If you like the ship and want to keep shipping it great, you can I’m not trying to stop you. If your headcanon or how you’ve interpreted stuff justifies it and means it’s not a pedo ship the way you like to think about it that’s fine too. But the people who make the show think and say it is a pedo ship, so to try to argue that it objectively isn’t is completely pointless… that’s how the people in charge define it, which means we’re never going to see anything in the show truly validating Sparity because they consider it wrong and so aren’t gonna advance it.

Point C is all that matters, really. In Equestria, age difference relationships could easily be more accepted than they are in our world. I like to imagine that nobody gives a flying fuck about anything that would stand love in the way.

The show writers can say whatever the buck they want and still won’t care because  
a. he’s not real, he’s a cartoon character so who cares  
b. he’s age has has never been mentioned in the show (same for everyone else)  
c. he’s been shown to grow older and bigger a lot faster than ponies do  
d. he doesn’t look or act like a baby or kid to me (he’s been shown to take care of himself and Twilight many times)  
e. the writers started it, so now they have to deal with it too

He’s a baby DRAGON (that means he’s younger than other dragons who age faster than him) but he’s not an actual baby like the cakes twins. He’s actually a bit older than the CMC because he’s egg hatched when Twilight was about the same age as they are now.

No, not really. He’s a little kid. The show writers have said so multiple times and said shipping him with Rarity is verbatim “not appropriate” because “he’s a little boy and she’s an adult”, and that’s wrong and will not happen. At least one of the comic writers have called it “creepy”. Jim Miller the director of the show was just tweeting last week that its wrong to assume dragons age at the same rate ponies do, so even if he was close to the same age in years which we don’t even know for sure, he’s much younger developmentally (like how 7 years old is child aged for a human and old age for many dog breeds… different species). Lauren Faust who designed him says she imagined him as elementary school aged and around 8 years old maturity wise/developmentally. And when he did grow with greed, he turned into a big growling monster and was nothing like the teenaged dragons who talked and everything (even if they were jerks, they didn’t behave like animalistic wild beasts), plus now in the comics we’ve seen other dragons who are “civilized” and obviously didn’t grow from greed, so no greed is not the only way for dragons to grow.
 
Like it or not those are all the facts, and I can back them all up with tweets and video footage when it comes to things the staff have said. As it is without completely altering the characters this is totally a pedo ship. You or anyone can ship it if you want I’m not trying to stop you, but everyone who works on the show consider it and have reaffirmed it as pedophilia with the examples I just gave and others, so… yeah. Jail time it would be.

Yeah, knowing the fact Spike looks like a baby because he is not greedy is not important. He is a “baby” afterall. He even acts all the time like a baby, doing “baby stuff” Come on, those dragons are all big because they are greedy. Spike would look like them if he was a greedy one too. Spike has almost the same age as Twilight.

Animation is a bit too fast to read at times, but it looks pretty cool!

And then Rarity went to jail.

Really liked that comic, and the animation is good too.
