Good point. On average though beyond Twilight, her friends, the Princesses (if they’re in the mood to do anything), and on occasion the Royal Guard, it’s pretty much no one else has the nerve to fight.

How many people in Equestria would be useful in a fight? Like honestly here, Ponies for the most part are a race of spineless wimps who cower, flee, and beg for mercy most of the time.

just for fun: formulate a way(s) how the yaks will win if they do declare war.
 
I’m thinking they’ll concentrate on the edges of equestria first and target the remote villages. capture almost all of the citizenry and when they expand, their troops will be shielded by hostages (the ratio/formation would be enough ponies to keep the yak protected but not too much for the ponies to overwhelm the yak) so defenders will either be too demoralized to fight or be forced to accept casualties among the hostages.

twilight , would you really? because if you do you just make another enemy. plus, you dont know what the yaks got as far as military power. oh, and you can forget telling Celestia you made a fiend with a yak prince. some princess of friendship you are, do you want other nations looking at equestria as if it was a power hungry nation. not everything that isn’t a pony is powerless, and not everyone cares what equestria can do as far as war goes.

Little did Princess Twilight know that the devastated timeline she saw was due to the yak invasion.

You can actually refute all of her points… Except for the Discord one.
 
1.) “The Stare” is something unique to Fluttershy - probably related to her element giving her supernatural empathy, allowing her to cut straight to the dragon’s soul. Requires the other being’s focused attention, though, which may not work on Yaks on top of that.  
2.) They only won against the Changelings because Shining Armor’s shield went magic overcharge and reactivated with all the changelings in the city.  
3.) Weather control is useful, but takes large teams and won’t win a battle alone.  
4.) Ditto with force fields - basically just super castle walls that would turn a battle into a siege.  
5.) How many unicorns can shoot death beams? Only ones we’ve seen that I can recall are Twilight, Shining Armor, and the princesses.  
6.) But can Celestia and Luna control the sun and moon in a weaponizable way, or would bringing them in destroy the entire world?
 
You may notice I went from the top-left and went around clockwise but skipped one, because, despite all this, there is one point that remains strong…
 
Discord.
 
Reforming him is one of the smartest moves Celestia has made. He can literally snap his fingers and turn Ponyville into “the chaos capital of the world!” I mean, he’s basically omnipotent. He quickly owned Tirek, and only ended up getting beat by him because his guard was down - that’s the only way he’s ever been defeated, is by letting his guard down.
 
Any fanfic authors that want to include something dark have a huge problem dealing with Discord :p

I wanted the lesson of this episode to be you can’t make everyone like you. The yaks were total jackasses if they weren’t going to blast them away at least have Celestia or Twilight give them a verbal beat down.
