Ohhh yeah, since the 80s there’s been a very real fear in urban parts of the UK about child predators (quite rightly, fair to say), so all our schools - particularly primary schools - have tall fences/walls around them, and gates that are electronically locked during the day with a buzzer intercom and security cameras; if you want to get in, the staff will see you there and buzz you in to go through to the reception area, before they’ll let you near any other parts of the school whatsoever.

I went for a job interview for Finance Officer at one primary school, the security precautions they have are very serious. And that goes double here in London.

I suppose it’s different depending on where you live. My primary school (or any primary school for that matter) in London would never dream of letting year 1-6 students go out of the school to use the town library, we had our own little one in the school premises. But London is very careful with small school children, we had a 30ft high chain-link fence around the school to keep out potential child snatchers… xD

Very true it could be, though I’d think usually a school library would be a lot smaller and contain only books age-appropriate for the students going there, and typically be on-site at the school for ease of studying, while the town library would be much bigger and open to anyone (and usually not located in/very near the school). ;)

Yeah, it’s definitely a boxy old computer with the monitor sitting on top of the base unit (before they became the stack/tower of the late 90s/early 00s) and the keyboard there in front. I think elsewhere in this scene Bright Eyes actually types something in too.

This reminds me so much of the computers from my childhood (which makes sense, as I was a child of 10 or 11 when this was on). All the computers at my schools back then were RM Nimbus IBM clones (right up as far as 1998! xD) that looked just like Bright Eyes’ one, and my computer at home was an even more antiquated Amstrad! XD
