luna and celly to me are gods because there are many definitions and ideas on what a god is.
luna is powerful like one, control over dreams, able to tear reality apart from her own emotional punishments,
celestia is different, she has wisdom, she rules for thousands of years creating a utopia and now even more alicorns,
both the ageless and all knowing watcher and the immensely powerful being can be gods.

There is no doubt that Luna’s guilt added fuel to the fire, but that does not mean that she was lying about its motivation for infecting other ponies’ dreams. Accusing her of that is merely avoiding the issue to preserve a line of speculation.

Here’s an idea: Luna could have been lying about what powers the Tantibus because she did not want to admit to the Mane 6 that it was her guilt fueling it and that she had created it (until the ending anyway).

Also in Rarity’s dream, we see it grow for the first time: right as Luna tells Rarity that she has suffered enough because of her. A neat little animation touch that foreshadows the big reveal.

>It WAS her doing. It is directly stated that Luna was accidentally making it more and more powerful. It did gain more strength from the fact it had spread to so many dreams, but it was ONLY being powered by Luna. That is why it could only be defeated by Luna taking it’s power away.

You’re contradicting yourself. You’re saying that the Tantibus both was and was not powered entirely by Luna. She very clearly explained that infecting many dreams is what was giving it the power it needed to escape into the real world.

Since you focus so much on how the Tantibus was able to draw strength from Luna’s guilt, it is worth noting that this is yet another hole in the idea that it was Luna’s power that made it so large and unstoppable. Her magic is what gave it shape, but her emotions are what kept it going.

All of this is pretty straightforward. I honestly don’t know how you can deny what Luna unambiguously stated concerning how the Tantibus operates. Lots of dreamers = big Tantibus. Very simple.

What have you been watching? It WAS her doing. It is directly stated that Luna was accidentally making it more and more powerful. It did gain more strength from the fact it had spread to so many dreams, but it was ONLY being powered by Luna. That is why it could only be defeated by Luna taking it’s power away.

Ignoring that truth, I don’t get why you feel the need to tell someone their ideas are wrong and silly, when yours were equally lacking in any evidence. Theorising on the real potential of these powers is something fandoms do. Don’t try shutting us down.

@Millennial Dan
Though it grew to this size against Luna’s will, I am not sure her TRYING would have made much change. It was her guilt afterall that made it so large, so if this was intentional it probably would have been smaller. But add somepony else that wants it big and goes to a lot of effort to make Luna feel bad, then you’ve got something truly monsterous.

Saying “there is no evidence to the contrary” is not a fair argument for any position. To say all things are true until proven false is just silly.

I don’t know, nor do I particularly care what the full extent of Luna’s actual power is supposed to be. What I do know is that the size of the Tantibus in this shot was not her doing, therefore it is not an accurate measure of her abilities. That is all.
Gungelion

@Millennial Dan
and there was no evidence to the contrary. Still leaving us with the same old question of how powerful they truly are.

Then again considering the nature of magic is it even possible to measure their level of power?

You’re implying that she could make it bigger and more powerful if she wanted. That may be true, but you don’t really know. Furthermore, even if it is true, it does not prove that she could make it like what we see here on her own. There is simply no evidence to support that.
