I’d like to add that gen three’s animation has improved dramatically from the first special to the last special. Come Back Lily Lightly looks miles better than A Charming Birthday.
I just think the animation style is ugly. When I first saw gen four I immediately liked it from a purely aesthetic standpoint, but when I look at gen three I cringed so hard. We are not actually scared, we just hate how it looked.
The joke is that some bronies are actually scared of G3: while it seemed like a typical girl’s cartoon, poorly-written but memorable, the artist is making fun of the bronies’ tendency to attack it as if it were some abysmal abomination.
Should we not make fun of ourselves sometimes?
“I don’t need to back up my opinion, because ‘it’s objective’.”
Early G3 was the most consistent generation imho, it had a great overarching storyarc of the different species with different cultures finding out of one another, without them being cannon fodder for morals. It also had a vast variety of characters with diverse yet subtle personalities that didn’t scream into your face like in FiM. Also, aside one (Two for The Sky), all the morals remained intact and didn’t end in a broken aesop.
Of course, you got to pay attention to these minute details to notice them, something this fandom is notoriously terrible at doing.
Now, you can’t apply these to things past Core7, and I won’t try to. You’re absolutely right when it comes to things from that point on.
Agreed on the latter.
Disagreed on the former.
