Final Fantasy III was even worse, because there were no save points anywhere (meaning you could only save on the overworld). If you died right at the Cloud of Darkness, you had to climb the Crystal Tower all over again, defeat Xande, lose to the Cloud of Darkness, defeat four annoying minibosses (whom all have 99999 HP each), and sit through several minutes of unskippable cutscenes while you’re doing this. THEN you could try again against the Cloud of Darkness. This is brain-breakingly unfair, and FFIII is rightfully considered the most sadistic Final Fantasy game out there.
