It also depends on the kind of benefit, I also met friends Lyra and Bon Bon , until they became more crazy things together but remain great friends and now one of them married , of course with the opposite sex.

Everyone can draw the conclusions you want, for me they are just great friends , I have seen amigvas that do things like them and even more, but they are not lesbian , but they want much as sisters and brothers if they do things like stick cheeks and rainbow rocks .

I don’t ship them because it’s a popular ship, I ship them because the characters seem made for each other, and don’t you think having openly lesbian characters in a kids show would be a good moral for the little kids watching? because kids are going to watch it, see that they are both girls and are very close and think it’s just normal (Which it is) so they will grow up and remember them and realize that they were a lesbian couple which will make them realize someone’s sexuality doesn’t matter, MLP has been a very progressive show for many aspects, sexuality is just a small thing compared to some of the things the show has tackled

Despite how close they are I see Lyra and Bon Bon as friends, after all it’s called Friendship is Magic and Friendship Games.

I never noticed before that EG Lyra wears bootie shorts.

I think I’d rather they leave their “relationship” ambiguous honestly, that way people can imagine it however they want.  
Some fans prefer them to be platonic friends, and I think they should be free to portray them as such if they wish, as well. You shouldn’t force everyone to accept a ‘ship, just ‘cause it’s popular.
 
Frankly, I think they’re getting to “flanderized” by the pairing to the point where they aren’t even individual characters now. I miss the fanons of them both having their own personalities besides, “ZOMG! We’re besties!” or “ZOMG Let’s make-out constantly!”
 
This is kinda why I don’t really want the show to make any fan-pairing canon, regardless how “popular” it is. (And that goes for the hetro’ fan-couples too.) It’d be best to leave them to fanon, and let the fans have their own takes on them.

I for one have never seen a pair of friends who are as utterly obsessed with each other as Lyra and Bon are, nor have I ever seen a pair of friends touch each other with the amount of romantic affection that they do.
 
We’ll never see a kiss or anything like that, but let’s face it, the writers have done everything they possibly can to indicate to us that those two are indeed a lesbian couple.
