Yech, right?
I originally based her on a Garter Snake:
but the color scheme was just too dark and, frankly, I found it very unappealing. The Malaysian Coral Snake was the first snake species I came across to have a differently colored head (providing a hair color) as well as stripes. Of course, this meant her whole “I’m a harmless little snake” line was a load of bull (going from a harmless snake to a deadly venomous one) but *shrugs*.
I’m still calling it a shiny ok
Alternate original color scheme for her. Was too contrasty :P
That looks pretty good too. I think dulling the yellow belly would work quite a bit too. Like how I didn’t use the bright red belly that malaysian coral snakes have when I colored Kalianne :D
Darn it. Gyazo is meant to be an easy way to share stuff like this. Hold on, let me try again…
Okay! There it is.
The link work for me D:
Just did a little edit after seeing your comment: https://gyazo.com/70decd6bee17dcbc4f0daa3e300db457
I like the grey of the hair a lot, and I took account of Kalianne’s normal blue colouring when altering her body.
Personally I don’t dislike it outside of it having too much contrast, but I think it’s unanimous that her blue coloring is better.
Still, I might try and reuse it for a different character.
I’m not that old :D
(I’m in my 30’s)
You’re OLD?! =O
@Blissey1
I’m the gayest old time anyone could ever have :P
no, he’s gay
Wait, you’re a girl?!
shuffles off to Wikipedia to knowledge himself…
Thanks!! 😁
As far as I know Lamia was one specific female entity and nagas were like dieties or something that could be male or female.
‘Course, I don’t know too much about mythology. Usually I just ask my husband; he has this like out-of-nowhere borderline encyclopedic knowledge of it.
Not that it really matters either. I’ll basically do whatever I want with mythology or the show to begin with anyways.
Mythologically, Lamia are always female and/or is a specific female figure, so yeah, if its male its more… historically? accurate to call it a naga. I can dig it.
To be totally honest, I 100% prefer the word “lamia” because I just think it sounds better than “Naga”, but I’m cool with either term. One comment pointed out once that (at least in one story) that lamias were the females and nagas were the males, and I actually really wish that was the case because that’s a cool idea I think.
@rainbowleader
Heh, that’s pretty much the same I felt about it.
@Keith Mowz
I might give it a try. I honestly do like darker color schemes and all. If anything, it gives me an excuse to make a second snakepone. Maybe one of Kalianne’s parents in a flashback or something just for kicks.
I didn’t vote because on the one hand I like because lamia, but on the other hand, I don’t really like the color.
To me, a lamia is anything that is lower half snake, upper half not-snake. Basically like a centaur but with snake instead of horse. Naga is just a semi-anthro snake, with the upper part being serpentine as well, and frequently with four arms (for example, these things I made up mostly for doing vore stuff with.)
I’ll have to think about reusing it for a different character if I can fix it to be a bit less ugh.
@Jackalodeath
I’ve always just used “lamia”, but I tag that and “naga” because a lot of people prefer that instead.
@rainbowleader
Yep. Pretty much every OC I’ve made started out with a different color scheme (the exception being Mave). Cuddlhu was dark blue (she was supposed to look like she was made of denim, which didn’t work without the texture), Tremble was originally pink (which I ultimately reused on this one), the ghost was solid white which actually looked good until I added the transparency which made it a gross gray color so I added some blue, Coma was a dark brown with red wings, which I didn’t mind too much but I liked the light color scheme better, etc etc.
